My husband and I have never been to a bed and breakfast and did not know what to expect at all. We received a gift certificate from my husband’s mom for Christmas and decided to stay at Rockmere Lodge the weekend of May 17-19. We were full of hesitation and uncertainty on our drive from NH to ME not knowing what to expect upon our arrival. But from our first step inside the lodge we immediately wondered why we waited so long to visit. Our hesitation and uncertainty instantly turned to excitement and enthusiasm.
We were greeted by their friendly and obliging innkeeper Doug. Then we were shown to our extremely spotless and cozy room. Even with full occupancy, the nights were quiet and relaxing. The only sound that can be heard morning noon and night is the soothing and tranquil call of the ocean splashing against the rocks right below you. Breakfast was delicious and full of laughs and fantastic stories from the entertaining and pleasurable Andy - with a special guest appearance by the Inn’s neighboring notorious Uncle Phil. Andy and Doug were continuously eager to help and assist us in any way that they could, whether it be restaurant recommendations, travel directions, historical inquiries, or any of our accommodation needs.
It was our first time visiting Ogunquit, and because of the Lodge’s superb and accessible location, we were able to walk to all of our destinations throughout the entire weekend. We shopped and dined at numerous establishments in town and found each and every single employee and staff member that we came across to go above and beyond. Such a friendly, welcoming and pleasurable village. We will definitely be vacationing there again as soon as possible, and when we do, we will most certainly once again be staying at the Rockmere Lodge. We’ve only been home one day so far and already miss our room, our view and our new friends. THANK YOU Andy and Doug for your hospitality and an outstanding and memorable weekend and experience. And Thank You to my mother-in-law for such a wonderful and unforgettable present.
