Bray's is an old home renovated into a bar/pub. The bar area is darker and livelier, but we were seated in what might have been an old bedroom, off the main foyer (where waitstaff was chatting among themselves and failed to notice us standing around and waiting to be seated.....). I love older homes and the potential for re-purposing an renovating interesting architecture and vintage furnishings, but this space was stuffy and uninspired. The walls were adorned with amateurish art, (for sale, by the way), but the menu looked promising and we were hungry.
This is a brew pub....so hubby chose the Songo Lock Scotch ale, which arrived in a glass slightly larger than a brandy snifter, with the head taking up more than half of the glass. He quipped, "I wonder if they bring me the rest of the beer later on?"
We really wanted bar food, but there were dinner items on the menu, and the waitress was very patient. Hubby had a hamburger, which he pronounced cooked to perfection and truly was the highlight of the meal. However, you get charged for every additional item....onions, cheese, etc., are additional. Really? WIth that he ordered onion rings (additional) which were incredibly greasy.
I had the chicken quesidilla. That's all that comes on the plate...no rice, no beans, no nothing else. It was your average, pub food fare, and not very spicy, so maybe it would appeal to a greater audience. Service was fine, we did have to wait a bit for our check, but the food was only OK, and the atmosphere really lacked. We noted on the way out that sitting at the bar might have been a better choice. Prices were ok, but we were disappointed with the portions and the atmosphere. With all the other options in Naples, we won't be back.
