“Roasted suckling pig”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

It's always a pleasure to eat at this restaurant. For those who enjoy roast suckling pig, the restaurant Caneira in Negrais - Sintra is undoubtedly a place to visit.
The restaurant specialty - suckling pig - is roasted to the extent that the majority of the fat below the skin melts, leaving the meat very tender and the skin crispy and absolutly deliciouse. The dish is accompanied with a pepper sauce, not too spicy, that makes the meat even more flavorful.
I don't even know what other dishes are on the menu. Each time I visit this restaurant this is the only thing I order.

“One of the most enjoyable dining experiences”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

It was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences during our trip to southern Spain and Portugal. We stopped not long before closing. We were warmly greeted waiter named Vladimir. He offered us homemade white cheese. It was very tasty. Describe the taste of roasted suckling pig is not possible. We ate them with white wine. The waiter explained to us in detail how to cook pigs and even took us to the kitchen and showed. Thank you for the pleasure. I highly recommend. 21.04.2013

“tradition and satisfaction”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

It is always a pleasure to enter a restaurant and see content diners who are regulars.
We were new to Negrais a village almost all dedicated to the production of and consuming of Lechao, baby suckling pig roasted in a traditional way. We had stopped to ask where another place was and received directions to the village. As we entered the driver of the car who we asked directions roared up behind and he jumped out and ran over to tell us not to go to the place we were headed for but to O Caneira. The decor has not changed for over twenty five years nor I suspect has the menu. If you want fish stay in Estoril. A timeless experience was our reward.
