I went to this restaurant on a recommendation - booked in to secure a table - but I found the experience rather less than satisfactory. First I was made to feel very welcome on arrival - but seemed to get overlooked regarding ordering - however that was sorted and I asked for a pint plus a main course of sausages and mash. On several occasions I was engaged in a conversation on the instigation of the landlady when she was interrupted and switched totally to others. This happened at least 3 times. Just before the food arrived another member of staff asked me if I had received ????? as a complimentary - I had no idea what she said or what she was talking about but I told her I had not. The food was very nice - but overpriced in the extreme - but the worst thing was the beer which ws completely flat when it was served and tasted awful. Maybe I should have complained at that point - but I kept my mouth shut hoping things would improve. When I finished I went to the bar just after a couple of men came in and placed an order for food that was so complicated that the poor hard working waitress was completely baffled - and she tried for several minutes to grapple with the till to enter the details of what they wanted - in the end...More
