“Such a night, such a find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

My sister and I were "in the area" and took a chance on this place after a long drive and hard day. What a delight. The haddock/salmon chowder, rich and creamy and hot, was scrumptious; as were the chunks of homemade bread that accompanied it. Being giddy with fatigue, we then opted to share a piece of the chocolate peanut butter torte. We were not even remotely disappointed. It was decadent and delicious, well worth the 2 am belly aches we both had from eating so much, so late in the evening! But, we'd do it all over again if we were to find ourselves back in that neck of the woods! PS we did go back for breakfast and it was equally yummy.

“Great ambiance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

We rolled in just a tad early for the dinner service but we were greeted with a 'no problem' attitude and were all seated at the bar.

All the servers were helpful and we got some great local info and directions for things to do in the area.

“Nice variety on menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

We had dinner here after a moose watch. Dinner was more succesful tan the moose watch. I had a nice mediteranian pasta. Would have been better with less tomstoes but it was still very good. Fresh fish was well prepared but the coconut shrimp were tasteless. We tried the pumpkin brulee but did not care for it. It was very dense and not light as you would espect a brulee to be. More like a pudding with burn't sugar on top. We had a new waitress and she tried very hard to please. She will do find. I did not personally like seeing the moosehead staring at me throughout dinner

“Worth a Journey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

We live about an hour and a half south of Millinocket and wanted to take a leisurely drive to see the autumn foliage with the possible bonus of a nice lunch en route. River Drivers' Restaurant at Twin Pines Camp was an amazing, unexpected discovery. This isn't just a camping destination for those hearty souls who have traversed the 2,200 miles of the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Mt. Katahdin, or a center for year-round outdoor recreation. It is a culinary delight. The lobster bisque is deservedly legendary. In season, the herbs and veggies are picked from the lodge's lakeside gardens. There is an excellent wine list. Interesting and eco-friendly architecture. Gracious wait staff. Peaceful. And then there's that unobstructed view of Mt. Katahdin. Worth a detour. Worth a journey.
