“A peaceful, cozy, and beautiful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

My boyfriend Colin & I wanted to see more of Northern Maine so that we could shoot some landscapes and we also wanted to get away for a couple days. Couldn't have asked for a more relaxing time. Our hosts were exceptionally friendly and kind and our breakfasts were above and beyond awesome. The room we stayed in was super cozy which was refreshing to come back to. Neither of us have any complaints at all, this was our first stay at a b&b which certainly raises the bar for any other one we choose to stay at. Thanks to Rick & Debbie we had the perfect rustic experience to start off our new year!!

Rustic luxury in a fantastic Northwoods setting. "Like new" cleanliness and made to feel like family the whole time we were there. Genuinely warm and friendly service, food was excellent. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: any room! they all have spectacular views of Katahdin.

During our 3 weeks trip across New England, we stayed 3 nights at the 5 Lakes Lodge. The location is wonderful, directly at the lake with great views towards Mt Baxter. The building is quite modern, but perfectly matching the surrounding, with some amenities (like floor heating) you will not find in many other B&B's. The Pemadumcook room was a good choice. We loved to sit in the rocking chairs facing the window, reading and enjoying the views.
Debbie and Rick are great hosts, we really felt "at home". Coming back after a cold and rainy day, we could relax at the fire place, while Rick opened a bottle of red wine and Debbie prepared some snacks. The area is somewhat remote, but this is part of the fascination. I guess Rick has been already everywhere in this part of Maine - a huge benefit for your day planning.
The breakfast was delicious and helped us through the day. For dinner you have to drive a few miles, if you don't want to use the grill. There is also at least one great place to eat in Millinocket, the River Drivers' Restaurant - give it try when you are there.
Among the many nice B&B's we stayed, the 5 Lakes Lodge was by far the best one, together with the Bufflehead Cove Inn at Kennebunk.

Room Tip: Pemadumcook room (2nd floor corner), quiet and more spacious than non-corner rooms, with great views

The first awesome is for Rick & Debbie, they are the most amazing hosts (Sam too)! The second awesome is for the most beautiful, comfortable, organized & friendly B&B ever!! And finally the third awesome.....the snowmobiling was incredible. Rick went over the map showing us our route, the convenience of the trail just across the street & the condition of the trails. Well as a sledder that my husband & I will go to Maine for a week & ride 1000 miles in 6 days along with what we ride were we live in NY, we can comfortably say...the trails were incredible. We only stayed 1 night after staying the previous 6 nights further north but Hubby & I were very delighted to have this be our last night stay in Maine! The bed was dreamy & this is a great combo for a couple that want both comfort while snowmobiling. Thank you for an amazing stay!

My husband and I were here for 2 days late October. It was a great place to relax and enjoy nature. The lake view from the widow was so relaxing as I sat and knitted while my husband was out in Baxter State park bird watching. The home made breakfast was great and plentiful. Debbie and Rick are great hosts! Want to return on our next trip to Maine1

I think that the 5 Lakes Lodge is a little piece of paradise. From the moment we arrived, Debbie, Rick and Sam the Dog made us comfortable and welcome. When we arrived, Sam met us at our car, showed us the way to the front door, how to open the front door and took us to the stairs. Seriously. We stayed in the Pemadumcook room which had views of the lake from both windows and a stunning view of Mt. Katahdin. At night the stars are so bright that it looks like you can reach out and touch them. There are many trails which Debbie and Rick can give directions to along with advice on difficulty. Breakfast is a complete delight. Debbie is a excellent cook and Rick keeps the coffee coming. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom with the giant jacuzzi tub was great. We sat in the rocking chairs in our room more than we thought we would just looking out at the lake and talking. It was a really great stay.

We were visiting family in the area and will happily return to 5 Lakes Lodge. It is romantic, peaceful and also a great starting place for outdoor activities. I can't vouch for the outdoor activities because that's not my thing but other guests seemed to like it.

It was late when we pulled in to 5 Lakes Lodge without a reservation and nothing else decent on the horizen. Fortunate for us there was a room available but I expect they book up fast during the season. The lodge sits on a small penninsula on a lake with hiking trails close by plus Mt. Baker State Park about 27 miles away. The log lodge is gorgeous and our room was spacious with wonderful views to the lake and gracious hosts that couldn't do enough to make your stay outstanding. It is not cheap but well worth it and you get a great breakfast too. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: We liked the lower corner room with two windows viewing the lake. I didn't see the upstairs roo...
