“Yum Yum Yum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

love it!! always a gooooood meal, try the turtle cheesecake and coffee. Enjoy many different items and have enjoyed many specials. Wish the salad bar was offered every night as well as at lunch. Like what they are trying to do with the winter martini/ice sculpture night. They are an integral part of downtown Lewiston. Very good, reliably and consistently Yummmmmy!!

Hello Barbara!
Thank you for your glowing review of our restaurant. We were proud to be a part of Lewiston/Auburn's initial Ice Festival event and L/A Arts is spearheading efforts again this year. You mentioned the Turtle Cheesecake, but have you tried the Lemon Mascarpone Berry Cake yet? It's become one of our top sellers!
Thank you again for your review and we hope you continue to enjoy your dining experience with us.

“Great vibe and service, inconsistent food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

Chose dinner here on the basis of recommendations on this site, but DaVinci's didn't live up to its reviews.

I started by selecting a locally-brewed amber ale from the extensive craft beer list, many of them brewed in Maine. The ale was exactly as advertised: Tasty and hoppy. A good start.

The bruschetta was middle-of-the-road, though piled high with chopped tomatoes and onions. The salads were on the small side but fresh. I opted for the caesar and the dressing was uncharacteristically bland. My daughter's vinaigrette was much tastier, and not overly vinegary as so many are.

The garlic knots people rave about? Basic dinner rolls brushed with butter and sprinkled with garlic salt. Garlic bread fans won't rejoice.

The Italian menu is large and extensive. We both ordered specialty entrees. My daughter's Penne Mona Lisa was excellent -- a perfect balance of pasta, sausage, chicken, peppers in a very tasty marinara. Two yums-up!

My Baked Chicken Tortellini contained tortellini and cubed chicken drowned in alfredo sauce under a thick cover of baked cheese. One-third as much cream and half as much cheese on top would have made this dish twice as good. I didn't want to finish it, instead helping my daughter with hers.

Portions, of our dishes and those on the tables around us, were plentiful (the Penne Mona Lisa fed us again the next night!). The place is clean, exudes a friendly vibe, and is definitely suitable for families and large groups. We were both too full to try anything from the dessert case or the gelato bar, though both were inviting. Service was appropriately attentive and friendly.

I'll give DaVinci's another try if I'm back this way again, but with lower expectations, and definitely steering clear of the cheese-and-alfredo combo.

“Nice place for family or friends to sup.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013 via mobile

The food is average to good. Kind of like an upscale Olive Garden. the atmosphere is good, in an old mill building. Restrooms are clean and service friendly.

“Good spot for pizza, nice for families”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Took family there recently while visiting relatives for Easter weekend. It is a huge restaurant but there always seems to be a line to get in as they don't take reservations for less than 9 people. We arrived around 8pm on a Saturday night and were told it would be a 45 minute wait but we were seated in less than 20 minutes. The room is open and kind of funky in an old warehouse and the waitress was busy but very pleasant and professional. The food was good but not exceptional. We were told it would serve huge amounts but the only really large entree we saw was lasagna which would have fed a family of 4 and seemed a little over the top. kids ate pizza -lots of unusual toppings--Pizza was ok but sauce not spectacular --maybe we had heard too much hype. The garlic knots and the salt rolls were EXCELLENT. One person in the party had pasta which was Ok, but again, not spectacular. This is a nice family style restaurant where you can order a nice pasta, pizza. It had a bakery which was closed but looked pretty good and there were a fair number of folks doing take out. It was busy but the service was good. Nice spot and would go again and perhaps order the special.
