I know people that swear up and down about this place as the be all end all of mexican food. I particulary dont enjoy Mediocre mexican, and don't get me wrong Loco's is just a step above medicore. I enjoy their fried shrimp burrito - and get it all the time there, its unfortunately inconsistent - sometimes delicious, sometimes rubbery cold fried shrimp. Sometimes the shrimp even come out grilled! Some things are just plain good, like california fries and the drinks are nice too. Sauces they make in house are excellent - avocado and chipotle in particular, though I dont believe the Guac is freshly made, its too fluffy and consistent. But the verdict is out on that one. Even Chipotle has guac you can see is made from fresh avocados, this is just too shiny and processed looking. Also lacks flavor.
You'll find some cool fun stuff here to try - beef tongue and some very spice dishes, relatively fresh and easy, but lacking nice flavor combinations that make mexican food (rarely) special. I think prices are great for huge piles of food, but i even heard one person say they were expensive (I have no idea where this person eats if its not mcdonalds). Atmosphere is kind of bland except in original bar area. It's a good, easy, cheapish spot and fun to go with a bunch of friends and tip back a few.
