We've heard so many great things about Anneke Jans so we made a reservation to celebrate a special occasion. Nice reception with table by the window - somewhat crowded back to back with another couple. The ambience was upscale and attractive, however, as it started to fill up the sound level was loud and not conducive to a relaxing atmosphere.
Starter of PEI Mussels with bacon, shallots, white wine cream, and blue cheese - Incredible! I would go here just to experience this delicious meal - amazing.
This was followed by a shared mixed green salad, Feta cheese, spicy walnuts, balsamic vinaigrette - excellent.
My wife ordered Angus sirloin strip with Pomme Frites, carrots, and truffle butter. The steak was not what she expected - lacked flavor. The Pomme frites were soaked in oil and quite salty so our waitress substituted a mashed potato with cheese and that was fine.
I enjoyed hazelnut encrusted Halibut with lobster sauce. This dish came with butter poached fingerling potatoes that were hard to cut and rather tough. Also, the edamame was not enjoyable.
Our drinks were great and service from our waitress was excellent.
