My wife, myself, and my parents, along with out dog stayed in the "cottage section" of Enchanted nights.
Upon our arrival we noticed how dirty the bathroom was and the owner "peter" actually said to my wife and mother, there is cleaner under the sink???
This place has WAY too much crap crammed into the rooms, you can't move without knocking stuff over.
It was also VERY dirty, bathroom, floors, and so on.
When we asked about clean towels everyday, we were told no?
He said, use them and hang them up for the next day.
We had to beg but we got the clean towels everyday.
When we stayed there was 1 other couple who was also misled by the internet ad, notice, his pictures only are of pilows on the bed, because the rest of the place is not very nice!

I would NOT recommend this place.

PLEASE BE ADVISED the owner actually has the nerve to ask people to leave him positive reviews?

My husband found this B & B online and thought it looked cute for our overnite in Maine. We were 'greeted' on arrival by this guy with bloodshot eyes and slow, lisped speech. He would disappear behind a closed door and then reappear when he got something he needed. (we wondered what was behind there). We never were introduced to his wife nor did he ever mention her. He escorted us up to our room and gave us a 'tour' which we didn't need since we could see everything the minute we poked our heads in. Our 'turret' room was decorated with clouds and stars and there were knicknacks and fabric hanging from the wall.and a thousand scatter rugs. Our 'host' asked if we wanted heat and we said we'd like the option if we got cold. He almost demanded us to give a time we would like breakfast, beginning at 9:00 am. the next morn and he proceeded to write the time and our name on a chalkboard. Then when we came for breakfast the next morn at that time he told us we were early!??#@! The silverware consisted of tarnished silver and we were told to pour our own coffee, help ourselves to the eggs and toast. I have no idea what he put in the scrambled eggs but it looked like fake baco-bits (the owners are vegetarian?) and some kind of yellow bell pepper pieces. The only good thing about breakfast was commisserating with other guests from New Jersey who were appalled at the accomodations also.

The place needed painting and cleaning , etc. It was NOT a good value for the money $150.00 for a tiny room in October, but I enjoyed it cuz my husband and I had a good chuckle over the whole thing. We felt like we were transported to the twilight zone and back!

If you like kind of creepy Victorian houses stuffed to the gills with antiques and pictures of cats, this is the place for you. We only stayed at Enchanted Nights one night on our way down the New England coast and liked it the least out of the places we stayed. The male innkeeper gave confusing directions and wasn't very good at providing suggestions for things to do/places to eat. I'm glad we opted out of the breakfast because they were serving it in their barefeet and that turned me off. On a sidenote, make sure you go with someone you are very comfortable with as the bathroom is often in the sleeping area with no doors, just curtains, as a partition. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't stay there again.

My husband and I stayed recently and loved the place! The antiques and atmosphere were just what we were looking for. We were greeted as we arrived and shown the room, which was beyond our imaginations best! It was so romantic. We were even given a complimentary coupon for a local restaurant. Everything was fabulous. The only thing missing was a longer stay! Will recommend EN to all our friends!

“very pleased”

Enchanted Nights B&B

Oct 8, 2007

I spent Labor Day weekend at the Enchanted Nights and was very pleased with the cute decor, the friendly owner, and the upstairs deck. Enchanted Nights had movies and guidebooks for guests' use and was located conveniently close to the river, many restaurants, and not too far from Portsmouth. The B&B was a perfect romantic getaway for a weekend.
