Cross country ski trip to the Maine Hut to Huts! There were 5 adults/ we left one car at the poplar parking lot and another car at the stratton parking lot so that we could do a loop. Cross country ski in about 3 miles a little up hill but arrived at a great lodge/ cozy with wood stove going/ welcoming staff. Sheared the bunk house which was very clean and warm with radiant heat floors--meals were great and everyone staying there including staff friendly. Next day ski 10 miles to Stratton (had all day to get there and ski mobiles took our gear that day --$20/person) ski to stratton downhill at beginning/ then miles of flats along river and the end part was uphill ---hike well worth the view of the Bigelow mtns. beautiful new lodge! Next day a blast skiing out down hill so much fun we hiked up again to ski down! Will definately return and maybe hike in the summer and for sure do another winter visit. Pricey but it must cost a fortune to keep these places going but well worth it---there were mixed groups of people/ adults/ family with children and young adults in their 20's.
