My wife and I spent one night at Three Stanley Avenue Inn on our way from Montreal to Bar Harbour and our stay was wonderful. The room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated with antiques. The mattress was comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. The next morning, the very nice owner greeted us for breakfast in a very nice and peaceful setting and offered us a very nice breakfast. I would come back anytime and also highly recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect B&B. The grounds are also impeccably maintained and it's nice to go sit on one of the wooden benches or chairs.

Room Tip: We loved room #3 on the ground floor.

Three Stanley Avenue is an outstanding place for a couple stay over a snowy weekend in Sugarloaf, Maine. The location is excellent: 20 minutes drive from the slopes at Sugarloaf, a 5 minute drive to great cross country skiing with Maine Huts and Trails, and a 5 minute walk to the town of Kingsfield. The service was stellar. We arrived long after the restaurant at One Stanley was closed, but the staff kindly directed us to a nice cozy pub a 5 minute walk away. Breakfast was very tasty, simple entrees very well prepared, fresh ingredients, homemade bread and jam, local granola and milk. We had a surprise snow fall on our last day and decided to stay late to ski and the staff kindly allowed us a late checkout so that we could shower and organize our stuff prior to a long drive home. We also met several great similarly minded outdoor-oriented folks ages 28-65 who were also staying at Stanley Ave and exchanged favorite local activities over breakfast each morning. Did I mention the extremely reasonable price? We can't wait to come back next year.

This is an amazing little place. It feels like you're staying at a friend's empty house. Great food, clean rooms, close to the mountain. The chef Dan blends classic European cooking with Maine elements - venison stroganoff, lobster curry in a dill sauce... just awesome.

We went to meet a highschool classmate that I had not seen for years. He was staying at Sugaloaf Mountain.
We wanted someting smaller in Kingfield. We had heard about a B+B calledThree Stanley Avenue. We were intrigued by the connection with the home of the inventors of the Stanley Steamer. It was a beautiful old Victorian building. The room was very nicely decorated and spacious as was the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. It was a very relaxing atmosphere and away from the truck traffic of Rt 27. Breakfast was at the restaurant in the adjacent building. It was an equally lovely Victorian building. It was simple but nice eating on the enclosed porch. The owner, Dan, was very friendly and helpful. It was very reasonably priced. We had a great vist with my old classmate ,who was taking a break from hiking the AT, and explored the Carabasset Valley area.
I'm looking forward to returning during ski season and think returning to 3 Stanley Avenue will be a great palce to relax and recharge for the next day of skiing.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night on our way to hike Maine Huts & Trails. Due to some awful traffic on the way up, we arrived very late. One of the owners, Susan, took the time to call me and go over everything while we drove up. She left the AC on for us, gave us a $10 voucher for breakfast since the restaurant wasn't open, and left the key in the door. After such a long drive, it was amazing to walk right into our room and relax. Everything was charming and very clean. The building itself is beautiful, and the back yard with its little gazebo seemed very inviting, if only we'd had more time to spare. This place is unbeatable when it comes to price, service, and atmosphere. If you're in Kingfield, or just driving through on your way to another destination, take the time to check out Three Stanley Avenue. You'll be happy you did!

We stayed 5 nights at the beginning of March to ski at Sugarloaf. I can also say, "This is a great place to stay!" The picture associated with this listing and the other recent reviews say it all. Having their restaurant next door means that you need to put your jacket on to go to breakfast but meals are well worth the slight inconvenience. Dan (the chef) and Susan do a superb job of preparing and presenting freshly prepared meals. We loved every one. Bring a book or deck of cards and linger in the wonderful sitting parlor. All the craziness of Sugarloaf is only 20 minutes down the road. This is the place to stay in winter or any other season. Just wait till you see their stained glass collection.

Room Tip: Get to know these freindly people.

I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful B&B in late February prior to skiing through the nearby Maine Huts and Trails System. The property has been beautifully restored and maintained. My first floor room was very nicely furnished with a comfortable bed and a great ensuite highlighted by an original claw foot tub. My friends and I enjoyed a great breakfast the following morning prior to heading for the ski trail. Everything prepared fresh. I will certainly return and I encourage you to enjoy this wonderful property. I would also suggest checking out their restaurant, One Stanley Avenue, located right next door. Wonderfully creative menu with a full bar for that pre-dinner cocktail in a tastefully decorated double Victorian parlor. It really doesn't get any better than this!
