“Perfection!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014 via mobile

This was our fourth visit to Captain Lord Mansion. As always, our stay was spectacular. This property is lovingly and beautifully restored. The rooms are graciously appointed and comfortable with all modern amenities. The staff is always courteous. A special recognition to Sue, who cooked us fabulous breakfasts each morning with a smile and charming stories to entertain us. We always look forward to our stays at this Inn and we are always sad to leave because the place is so special.

Dear Grace, Thank you for your glowing review and for mentioning Sue, our breakfast chef. She is a treasure. Bev and I are amazed at how she remembers every guest's need, many of them quite specific! It is employees such as Sue and others that make our inn special. We treasure them. Again, thank you for including her in your review. Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield

Once again we returned to the CLM for a fun stay while everyone prepared for the annual Christmas Prelude. The Mansion, as always , is all lit up and decorated. We even had a lit tree in our room and a present nearby. Candles in the windows , warm glog that is served every evening and a cozy room filled with the warmth of a fireplace awaited us after a short walk from the village. This is a New England B&B at its finest , even after the holidays. We cannot wait to return. Thank you Bev and Rick

Dear Jack and Leona, Thanks for your loyalty and support over the years. We truly appreciate your complimentary review and your mentioning the many little details which we believe set us apart from other lodging choices folks have in Kennebunkport. Yes, the holidays are a special time to visit the area; it is like a Currier and Ives New England scene come to life! Warm regards, your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield

After driving up the coastline from Boston, we made a very wise choice to spend a few days in Kennebunkport, ME at the prestigious CAPTAIN LORD MANSION! From the moment we drove onto the property we were treated like royalty and invited to make ourselves at home. From the welcome goodies in our room to the 5 course breakfasts and snacks all throughout the visit, CAPTAIN LORD'S staff made us feel at home and spoiled us for more. The chefs were amazing in their selections and catered to our every need. The best recommendation I can give is that when we are back in the area again, the choice of where to stay will be easy: THE CAPTAIN LORD MANSION!

P.S. We bought two of their classy green coffee mugs to remind us of the wonderful time. Our only regret is that we didn't get two RED MUGS also! :)

Wonderful experience again at the Captain Lord. Both the Maine Inn and Garden House were decorated in exquisite Christmas Splendor. We are already looking forward to returning in the spring for more R&R.

Dear Boston, Thank you for your review regarding your visit at Christmas Prelude. It takes Bev and I, as well as our staff, two weeks to completely decorate both the Mansion and the Captain's Garden House. Thank you for your encouraging words about the decorations. The only challenge is that the halls look so plain after we remove all the greenery and bows. However, for the 30 day (plus) period from Thanksgiving to New Years, the inn is overflowing with beautiful seasonal decor. Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield

The Captain Lord Mansion is beautiful inside and out, just like the people who run the show. We were greeted with warm smiles and warm cider on the stove. Breakfast is an event in itself and Delicious! We had a couples massage Friday evening to begin our relaxing weekend and I highly recommend taking advantage of the on site Spa. We're already planning a return trip next November!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the large bathroom and heated tiles in Callendar room.

We made a stop in Kennebunkport, ME after spending time in Boston. Everything from start to finish was first class from the delightful staff to the adorable rooms and everything in between. The breakfast was amazing both days we stayed and we really appreciated the little "extra treats" that were put out during the day. I might mention this was an extra special trip, because my fiance proposed at Lookout Point! He had called ahead to Captain Lord and asked for recommendations from the staff on good places near the B&B to propose. We purchased the picnic offered through Captain Lord that came complete with wine, lobster rolls, and clam chowder and took it up to the Lookout Point. After the proposal, we return to Captain Lord where Michelle went above and beyond by helping us "stage" our post-proposal pictures in the dining area! Thanks again to all the staff for a magical weekend and we will surely be back for an anniversary in the future :)

Dear St. Louis, Thank you for sharing the details of how our staff supported your finance's efforts to find the perfect spot for the proposal. Over the years, we and our staff have helped many couples create special moments for proposals, anniversaries, birthdays and more. One fellow took his beloved on a sleigh ride which we organized. Another fellow took his girlfriend to the Captain Lord Mansion's Cupola at the same time he arranged for a plane to flyby carrying the message "Will you marry me?" We have some great stories! Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield

The Captain Lord Mansion has two things going for it. One, the location is within an area of similar homes that if you walk around at night you get the feel of being back in that period of time. Two, the people are friendly and very accommodating. We stayed there two nights and had a fantastic time. We ended up staying in the carriage house and thought we would lose out not staying at the main house. Wrong! The carriage house has four rooms, its own kitchen and dinning room for breakfast and quiet. We will more than likely make this a yearly thing.
Thanks and congratulations for making this special occasion, 43-years of marriage, a memorable one! As the saying goes "Memories are priceless!"

Dear New Hampshire, Thanks for sharing about your recent visit to the Captain Lord Mansion where you stayed in our Captain's Garden House. Also, we truly appreciate your pointing out the positive aspects of being in that four-guestroom building. In fact, many guests love the smaller, more intimate feeling of that house. It is equally decorated and furnished with terrific amenities! We'll look forward to your next visit. Your innkeeper, Rick Litchfield
