“Superior B&B!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

Capt. Jefferds Inn was THE definition of a 5+star B&B. Access to the property was so convenient, room appointments were finely detailed, food was wonderful & service hosts & especially Steve) was great. We've stayed in multiple B&B's but this was the absolute best!!

Room Tip: 1st floor Chatham was ideal for we "mature" travelers that don't do stairs well.

We loved our stay at the Captain Jefferds - what a very special place! We stayed in the Arundel room, in which we were very comfortable. We loved the readily available refreshments, the delicious breakfasts, and meeting our fellow guests, a friendly and informative multi-national group, different every day. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this lovely accommodation and are so happy to have discovered it.

Thank you so much for your lovely review and recommendation! We are so pleased that you had a memorable experience and that you enjoyed your room, the breakfasts, the afternoon treats, and mingling with the other guests. We are fortunate to have wonderfully interesting guests who come to us from all over the world. It is certainly one of the most exciting aspects of innkeeping. We are happy you discovered us too and hope to welcome you back the next time your travel plans bring you to Kennebunkport!

Warm wishes, Sarah and Erik, Keepers of the Captain Jefferds Inn

We are happy to hear that you found the location ideal, the staff friendly, and the food enjoyable. Our goal is to create an atmosphere where guests feel right at home. We are glad that was your experience overall. We are sorry to hear that your morning was disturbed by workers on a neighboring property. Because we do not want to wake our guests, our policy is to never begin yard work before 9:00 AM. Thank you for sharing your experience and review. We hope to see you again soon!

A wonderful old captain's home located blocks off the main shopping area in Kennebunkport. The home is exceptionally well maintained and the rooms are very clean. Breakfast is on a schedule (I believe 2 seatings a day) and cookies, coffee, tea and light apps are always available. The hosts were very helpful in restaurant recommendations, and the staff was very friendly.

We are so happy to know that you had and enjoyable stay and that you found the Inn to be shipshape and welcoming. We work hard to ensure that the entire property feels inviting and comfortable for our guests, so it is always gratifying to hear that we are hitting the right notes. As you mention, we generally do offer two seating times for breakfast which affords us the opportunity to serve a relaxed, three-course meal. We certainly do hope that if your travel plans bring you back to the area that you will visit us again! Thank you for your kind words.

Wishing you the best, Sarah and Erik, Keepers of the Captain Jefferds Inn

Upon arrival to Captain Jefferd's Inn, we were greeted by the friendly staff and offered an array of coffees, teas, cookies, snacks, and other refreshments to begin our extended-weekend stay. We arrived prior to check-in time at 3pm, and although our room was not ready, this provided us with an excellent opportunity to stretch our legs in Kennebunkport after the previous 8 hour drive from Maryland. We took a short walk from the Inn, along tree lined streets, into Kennebunkport to find some lunch. After lunch and a walk to the beach, we returned to Captain Jefferd's Inn for a brief tour of the Inn's main level and an introduction to our room. We stayed in The Hideaway room, a small room tucked away in the upper level of the guest house. It had about a 3/4 height door which lead into a cozy room with a comfortable bed, small sink, and it's own bathroom with shower. Unless you are over six feet tall, don't let this little room prevent you from staying at Captain Jefferd's. Over the bed was a skylight which could be opened to allow in fresh air, and watch the stars and moon at night. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels and linens replaced. The 'candles' in the windows added an extra touch of comfort and beauty to this beautiful Inn. The Inn itself was beautifully decorated with local artisan's crafts and gorgeous antique furnishings. Although the Inn is most likely more decorated than your own home, you can't help but sit on the couch with a book, and a cup of hot tea to enjoy the crackling fire. The staff was always happy and willing to assist with refreshments, join in a pleasant conversation, or give recommendations for local attractions. This was our first time to Kennebunkport ,and Maine, but we are already looking to return this winter and stay at Captain Jefferd's.

Room Tip: The Hiedaway room was cozy and perfect for a couple looking to relax and get away for the weekend...

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and lovely review! We are so pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable stay and that you made time to relax with a book and a spot of tea in front of the living room fireplace. It sounds like you found Hideaway to be cozy and charming. It is our smallest room but we have outfitted it with the same premium bed and linens found in all of our other rooms and have decorated it to make it feel snug and inviting. As you mention, the skylight over the bed can be a wonderful way to open the room up to the night sky. We are very grateful that we had the opportunity to play a part in making your first visit to Kennebunkport a pleasant one and look forward to your return this winter! We’ll keep the fire crackling and the teapots at the ready.

Best wishes, Sarah and Erik, Keepers of the Captain Jefferds Inn

Just stayed at Captain Jefferd's Inn again this past weekend, it's our 4th or 5th stay. I always bring my dog so we stay in The Terrace Room every time we visit. As usual, we had a great weekend! Our room is always immaculate with every detail thought out down to bowls, a tennis ball, extra sheets and towels and a personalized cookie for the dog! If these are the lengths they go to for the dog, imagine how they treat the people! Always very accommodating, great food, great staff. We look forward to our Maine weekend at Captain Jefferd's every year and this year was no different, we already can't wait until next year!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautiful, but we love the Terrace Room because it has a private entrance!

There is no higher compliment than to have guests return to us time and again. It truly is our pleasure to welcome you and your dog each year. We loved the dog’s pumpkin outfit! We are thrilled that you had a great weekend and look forward to playing a part in many more wonderful weekends to come. Looking forward to your next visit!

This was our first time to Kennebunkport. We were received warmly...Sara and Erik (owners) are lovely hosts. Tina, the breakfast wait staff, had a broad smile and very sweet. Breakfast was delicious/fresh and they accommodated you if something was not to your liking. During the day Steve was on staff to answer any questions. He was pretty knowledgeable about the area and was certainly focused on 'customer service'. The Inn itself is situated on a one-way street just a few blocks away from the down-town hustle. It was quiet enough (we had the top floor facing the street). The house grounds are well manicured, the rooms very clean, staff approachable. Rooms included robes, fresh flowers, soft towels, lotion etc. Walking distance to the center of town! If you're looking for blueberry jam, they have the least expensive! You can purchase wine from a limited inventory...very good prices. We hope to return and will be staying here again.

Room Tip: We looked at all the rooms. Some larger than others, but all very nice.

We are so happy to know that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay! It is lovely to hear that you felt warmly welcomed and well taken care of during your visit. We have a wonderful team who are very focused on creating the perfect environment for guest to relax and unwind. Our location certainly plays into that as well. While we are just a quick walk from the village, we are tucked away in a quiet neighborhood of historic homes. As you mention, we do offer a selection of wines and feature an assortment of jams, toppings, chutneys, and vinegars in our gift shop. Our hope is that they provide nice treats in which guests can indulge. Thank you so much for your kind review. We hope to see you again soon!
