My wife & I stayed at the bufflehead cove inn on the 1st night of our honeymoon, having flown into Boston earlier the same afternoon.
We arrived in the dark - about 8, and even then didn't have any problems finding the place, even though it is "down a small unlit lane"
The garden room we'd booked was perfect, as no doubt all the other rooms are - the attention to detail was fantastic, without being over fussy.
It was only next morning however, that we saw what makes the bufflehead cove inn really stand out, and that's It's location - surrounded by woods & gardens, on the banks of a tidal creek.
Breakfast (blueberry muffins, fresh fruit salad, bacon & eggs, cinnamon bread, fresh fruit smoothie, & all the tea & coffee you can drink) was taken on the veranda, overlooking the water, with only the sounds of birds & chipmonks to disturb you.
You can see the bridge into Kennebunkport from the veranda (It's about a mile away) which'll give you an idea of Its location.
Overall, we both had a fantastic time, and a very positive introduction to American hospitality. Our only regret was that we didnt turn up a few hours earlier to enjoy cheese & Wine @ 4pm on the veranda, and that we didnt stay for at least 2 days.

The wicker chaise lounge in the Balcony Room that over looks the tidal Kennebunk River is one of the most peaceful places I've found on earth, especially after a soak in the two-person jacuzzi tub. The B&B is comfortable and elegant, tucked away on a quiet drive a short distance from the Kennebunkport harbor. The hosts are helpful with suggestions and willing to make dinner reservations for you while you swing in the hammock.

My partner and I are very well travelled and are use to staying at the best hotels in the world. The Bufflehead Cove is AMAZING!! The owners know what they are doing. They are very helpful, the rooms are great (I recommend the balcolny room), and the breakfast was spectacular. We met some very nice people and we would go back in a heartbeat.

We travel extensively and Bufflehead Cove is one of our favorite Inns. The Innkeepers are always pleasant and accomadating and the breakfasts are fabulous. The Inn fronts the river which we find very relaxing. The accomadations offer variety and are well maintained. It is a short ride to the picturesque town of Kennebunkport with great shops, restaurants and other activities. We stay at this Inn every year and have every intention of returning.

I wish I could give Bufflehead more than 5 stars, they deserve 10! My husband and I stayed for 2 nights here and it was very hard to leave and we plan on coming back next summer. We just adored everything about the property...the owners, Harriet and Jim, as well as their son, Aaron, and employees were the epitome of great customer service. They didn't just do the expected, they created a homey and warm experience. Harriet knew who we were without checking a computer and just was an incredibly gracious hostess, as was her son, Aaron. The property is 1 mile from town and down a beautiful lane--you get the best of both worlds--a quiet, peaceful setting on the river, and just a 15 minute walk and you are in town. The inn was classy, super clean, well-stocked with coffee and hot chocolate, water, nightly chocolates, floral arrangements, and very comfortable. We stayed in the river room which is smaller but has a beautiful view and balcony. It was perfect for us. Lastly, the breakfasts were awesome. Stuffed french toast, fresh cantaloupe, eggs, quality bacon, sweet bread, good coffee, and great, fresh juices. We are big travelers and we are pretty picky and we were in awe of this inn and so happy with the entire visit. We hope you will choose to experience this total jewel of a property---we were lucky to find it.
