I had been to Grissini years ago & thought it was wonderful. Therefore, I thought while staying at my parents' for the weekend I would order a pizza and bring it back home to enjoy. I ordered the funghi pizza. It certainly smelled amazing (the truffle oil) and I could not wait to get home & enjoy it. I did not have a far drive...7 mins at most and no, did not hit any bumps in the road so the ride cannot be blamed for diminished quality. Imagine my surprise to open the box to find a most flimsy pizza with barely any mushrooms. To top it off I had paid $16 for it! I decided, "just try it, perhaps it will be good." Unfortunately, it was mediocre at best. I do like thin crust/artisanal pizzas, and I can tell you for $16 in Boston and even NYC, I would have gotten a similar pizza at a similar price point with better taste & more mushrooms. Some of the few pieces there were for the pizza had one or two mushrooms on them. The pieces that had more mushrooms had maybe 4 or 5 pieces of mushroom at best. Unacceptable. And yes, I know the cost of shiitakes and other foraged mushrooms, but $16 for this?? And these were NOT foraged mushrooms brought in from a special vendor, so to try & defend the price point for this is ludicrous. I could have made my own dough, bought a nice variety of mushrooms and fontina, made my own sauce & it would have been 100x better. I was disappointed to say the least. It's such a shame I wasted my time and my money.
