We drove on to the grassy property, set back from the rocky cliffs, expecting a quiet, peaceful setting. Instead, we found cars parked along the ridge, and children running and playing freely on the expansive lawn. Parents were encouraging their children to run off their pent up energy, chasing each other and tumbling into piles together. The actual building of Saint Ann's Church is set back from the water, so when we entered, we were alone in the lovely stone house of worship. Several unique and outstanding stained glass windows are inserted into the side walls. The church is small and cozy and beautifully maintained. Views of the magnificent shade trees and the ocean beyond can be seen from the front windows and through the open front doors. Several plaques make it evident that the Walker and Bush families have been active members of this parish for a very long time. An outdoor chapel, complete with permanent pews and a marble altar sits at the edge of the sea. The parsonage on the property rivals the beauty of many of the other mansions on Ocean Avenue. The Bush family compound is just up the road, close enough to view and admire.
