“Little Hideaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2010

Fontenay Terrace is the perfect location for a quiet, peaceful getaway. Yet at the same time it is within walking distance to the beach and fishing (across the street), within an easy mile's walk to the Kennebunkport village.
The motel has only 8 rooms with all the necessities, yet they are clean, well kept, comfortable restful beds for sleeping and well manicured grounds with swings, tables and chairs for outside dining.

We visited Fontenay during the Easter holliday for two nights. We shared a room with 2 of our friends. The room was very clean, price affordable and you can walk to the ocean or to the boutiques and restaurants.

On a warm Saturday in March and "on the spur of the moment", we decided to drive up to KBPT and take a chance that there might be a vacancy at the Fontenay Terrace. Luckily, we were able to book Room 7.

As always, we were greeted by Dave and Paula, the proprietors, around 3 p.m. The accommodations were as expected...clean and user-friendly. After we unpacked, it was our usual trip to Goose Rocks Beach (GRB) to enjoy the fresh Maine air. Then we met relatives for dinner at Allison's in the 'port, took a window-shopping tour around town and ended up back at the Fontenay to retire in a king-sized bed.

The price for our one-night stay was very fair, as the Fontenary is accessible to restaurants, shops and other activities in the area. And, for your convenience, there is AC if needed, an in-room frig, an iron, outside ice machine and, of course, TV with a working remote!

There is no question that we would give a "thumbs up" for the Fontenay Terrace.

This is my third stay at the Fontenay Terrace Motel. I keep coming back. The motel is small, and very comfortable. As I travel alone as a photographer, I just need a room to sleep. The Fontenay is more than that to anyone. It is located about 200 yards from the beach, and across the street from a marina. Next to the motel is a inlet as is atypical in this part of the state. The owners are the best! They are friendly, courteous, and always willing to help. This year, they upgraded my room and kept the same pricing. I believe the motel only has eight room so you need to book early. I thoroughly enjoy my visits to the Fontenay and will continue returning.

Spotless clean facilities. Excellent comfortable bed and bedding. Owners on premises who are very helpful and friendly. Off season and in season rate very reasonable. Parking in front of your room door. Convenient addres s...the famous Colony Hotel is right next door.....walk to Kennebunkport Dock Square. WE would recommend it to anyone looking for afforable clean facility without all the stuff you don't use (indoor pool, spa, tennis court, etc., etc.)

After the Waldo Emerson Inn double booked us, they found us a room at the Fontenay. We were greeted very warmly and shown to a room that was large and comfortable. While it was not the B&B that we had expected, it was less expensive and suited us just fine. The room had a small refrigerator, a coffeemaker, and a wonderful shower. The grounds were well kept and pleasant, and the motel was only a short drive into town. If I return to Kennebunkport, I will definitely stay at the Fontenay again.

I love the Fontenay. It is in a great location and very clean. It is a basic hotel room but on the large size. When we stayed we had a good size room with 2 double beds and a sitting area. The best part of all is the price...very reasonable. And like another reviewer said it is pretty quiet. It is adjacent to many great restaurants and beaches. We'll be back again next year!
