“October visit to Fontenay Terrace Motel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

This is our 6th year of returning to the Fontenay Terrace Motel. This is a clean comfortable independent motel that is consistent in all categories.Although this may not be the best choice for families with young children or infants due to having no pool, playground etc, it is an excellent choice for couples. It is comfortable and quiet. We are walkers and enjoy the mile plus walk into the heart of town and other scenic locations. The owners are very friendly, helpful people who are more than willing to share their local knowledge and always add to our stay in a warm way.Our son is now attending college in Maine and the Fontenay Terrace Motel will continue to be a most pleasant stop as we drive him to and from upstate New York. Thank you Fontenay for dependability, cleanliness and warm "down home" hospitality which is often absent from large chains and resorts.

Once again, a restful, peaceful and inspiring trip to the Fontenay Terrace. It proves itself a gem each time I go, and as always, the Fontenay offers clean, comfortable and accomodating rooms. Although, to it's advantage, it is out of the way of all the hustle and bustle, it is only a short walk to the village for shopping, restaurants, fishing, boating and the beach. Also a short walk north on Ocean Drive is the historic St. Ann's Church and the Bush family ocean home. Thank you David and Paula for another comfortable stay. It is never long enough. See you in the spring.

I've stayed at four other lodgings in Kennebunkport over the last 20 years and Fontenay Terrace has become my favorite. It's far enough from Dock Square so you're away from the hustle and bustle of those on bus tours, but close enough that you can walk there for a meal, whale watching, or shopping. In the other direction is the shoreline and you can take wonderful walks that always present something new. The rooms are very comfortable and have both microwaves and small, dorm-size refrigerators ideal for chilling some wine and/or cheese or keeping cream for your morning coffee. After a busy day, it's a treat to sit outside your room and read or just relax.

The hosts, David and Paula, are always very welcoming and have great advice on things to do and where to eat.

Room Tip: The Web site gives very accurate pictures of the rooms and their amenities. Room 1 is closest to th...

This is a perfect place to stay in Kennebunkport. It is close enough to walk to town and only a block from the beach. We were lucky enough to get room number 8 which has a picture window overlooking the inlet. I did not see the other rooms, but we were glad to spend a little extra to have the end unit. Any room should be nice. The common areas offer views of the small inlet and pretty grounds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Wish we had more than one night to stay! A great long walk along the waterfront will bring you past beautiful homes and the Bush Compound. We also enjoyed eating at Mabel's which is right next door. Don't believe the other reviews. We had a great meal at Mabel's. Order the local fish. You can't go wrong.

The Fontenay Terrace is very high on our list of places to stay in Kennebunkport. We have been staying there over more than a decade when we travel to Maine and we have never been disappointed. The rooms are very clean and great care is given to make the stay just perfect. The Fontenay Terrace is in a most convenient location and just a short walk across the street to the beach. We can walk to town and enjoy everything.

The Fontenay Terrace Motel was a wonderful place to stay in Kennebunkport, Maine. It's located near the great shopping and just a short walk to the water. It's right next door to Mabel's (which is just an ok restaurant). The room was very clean. The owners and staff are friendly, accessible and helpful. It was super quiet at night so sleeping was peaceful. Their rates are very reasonable.
