“The Staple for Fried Clams in The Port!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

Although the clams and other seafood is a bit pricey. Everyone needs to stop at The Clam Shack at least once. It's quintessential New England, and serves up-patrons right on the street next to the bridge. The Clam Shack is to Kennebunk/Kennebunkport what the hot dog stand is to NYC.

Pro:
- location
- one of "the places" to visit in the Port
- quality and quantity

Cons:
- a wee bit pricey
- prepare to stand in-line in the summer

“the best lobster roll on the face of the planet!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012

My husband's family have been spending summers in Kport forever and introduced me to the Clam Shack nearly 25 years ago. It's not cheap (and make sure you bring cash), but a great lobster roll wouldn't be, would it? My daughter loves their fries, and I am partial to the fried scallops. Just make sure to take advantage first of all the exercise options (running, biking, kayaking) that beautiful Kennebunkport has to offer!

“Great fried food and generous portions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

Three of us actually shared the fishermans platter and there was plenty for all of us. I would suggest sharing one entree among two people, unless you're really a glutton. Fried clams are especially good.

“Central location and cash only”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2012

Always carry cash 'cause you never know when you are going to need it. Be sure to have plenty when you come here because it isn't cheap. Don't be fooled by location and picnic tables you will be charged like you are in a restaruant.

With that being said everyone else enjoyed their meal great whol belly clams, chowder, burger, clam cake and I had the shrimp roll. Plenty of shrimp but the coating was a little salty which detracted from tasting the shrimp.

They are there to make money so don't waffle while ordering they are in business to make money. I would go back but try something else. Yes, a little expensive for a "shack". LOL
