This is where I travel when the clutter of Southern Maine
gets to me. Jonesport has the quiet and peace that is good for the soul.
There are no fast food places, no tee shirt shops, no traffic lights. There
are wonderful beaches, people that say hello as you walk by them, even chat
if you feel the need. The local places to eat, while not fancy, are good,
clean, and frequented by the tourists, AND the natives ! Two days in
Jonesport, especially with the wonderful cooking at Raspberry Shores, is
enough to make a person remember why Maine is truly a wonderful state.
Kayakers should note that there is a beach right on the property, and a
beach two miles away, with 12 ft tides and unspoiled shoreline, that are
wonderful. No jet boats, not many plastic rec boats, lots of trawlers and
lobster boats. You'll know this is a different part of the Maine Coast when
the lobster boats slow and wave hello to the kayakers!
