“A cozy, affordable & fun retreat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013 via mobile

We stayed in the Best Western, perfect for a couple-features a big, clean whirlpool tub that was just the thing after long, cold days of ice fishing.

The cabin is no-frills, as described, but had all the necessities to fend for yourself. You are able to control your own heat, so we were toasty warm.

Gorgeous view, right on edge of big wood lake, and only 25 miles from moosehead lake, so we were able to pop back between the two.

Very affordable.

Check out Big Wood Steak house just up the hill...big juicy steaks at great prices. Four Seasons had a good hearty breakfast & Bishops has a little of everything.

Tammi & Steve, the owners, are very nice & accomodating.

We'll be back for a full week next year!

Just got back today from a great stay at Cozy Cove. We stayed in Cabin #9 a 2-4 person cabin with a queen bed and 1 bunk bed. This was our first trip to Maine to snowmobile and we were impressed. Tami greeted us on Sunday upon arrival with a huge smile and welcoming heart. Throughout the week Tami and Steve were available for questions, trail advice, and anything that we needed throughout our stay. We were impressed by their availability. The cabin was quaint and cozy. Very clean with plenty of amenities throughout the cabin. The showers are warm too! For those who snowmobile it was very convenient to the trails. It is right on the lake trail and less then 1 mile from gas and 5+ restaurants. You can walk to a lot of the restaurants as well. We will definitely be back to visit and thank you again to Tami and Steve!

Room Tip: Cabin #9 is on the end with great parking for snowmobiling.

We just got back from a long weekend at Cozy Cove Cabins. The cabin was nice and clean. The owners were terrific and very helpful. If you are looking for bathroom privacy I would not recommend the Best Western as the doors to the bathroom are swinging cafe doors, which are great if you are going for a western theme, but not so great if you want some privacy. Great place for a couple. Everything in the cabin was new and clean. Overall we enjoyed our stay and plan to return.

On the other side of the pond you can kayak or boat over to la ittle stream and see an eagle's nest, complete with babies and a mom, who gave us a show by flying out of the nest in search of supper.

Tami and Steve really went out of their way to make our kayaking weekend special, even took us to a place to drop off our car so we could enjoy a wonderful trip down the Moose River to Long Pond.

The price is right, the owners are great and the location is perfect for hiking, kayaking, boating and just hanging out.

Room Tip: Check out the cabin pics on their website before you go.

We stayed in the Best Western a couple years ago and we thought it was Great! It is a perfect John Wayne theme cabin. We have been going to Jackman since 2005 and stayed in this same cabin before it was renovated and were so surprised by the changes made. It is FANTASTIC. The tub was wonderful and I took advantage of it when Kevin went out fishing, I put in the spa CD, filled the tub and added bath salts that were provided and soaked. FABULOUS. This cabin was perfect for Kevin and me.
We love Jackman and Cozy Cove Cabins and that is why we come back every summer. Our new favorite cabin is Indio though, mainly because it is a 2 bedroom cabin and we bring so much stuff, LOL, plus we like having an enclosed porch.
All of the cabins have a full kitchen with pots, pans, dishes and most things needed to cook, and if it isn't in your kitchen, they always seem to have what you need in the lobby. We love having our own kitchen, it helps us save a lot of money on meals. (When we travel we always prefer cabins over motels for this reason, even though we know that cleaning up before we go is all part of the experience.) Parking is right next to the cabins which is helpful when you bring a lot of stuff like we do. We go to Jackman to enjoy the outdoors and spend a lot of our time hiking the nearby trails. We rented ATV's a couple of times also which is awesome, and a least once each trip we take out a boat, (the man powered boats are free to the guests) and we enjoy the peace and beautiful scenery of Jackman. It is so great not to have to drive somewhere to do that. In fact, we don't drive much at all. When we want night life, we just walk up the road to the Northland or the Jackman Hotel, or to dinner at the Steakhouse. It just doens't get any better that this for out summer vacation. Actually, all the changes that Steve & Tami have made is wonderful. Check it out, get to know the owners, and you will find yourself coming back every year like we do.

Room Tip: I personally like the cabins on the lake, but you can see the lake from all of the cabins.

Where do I begin! This was the BEST getaway we ever had! We arrived to Cozy Cove Cabins after check-in time but they left the door to our cabin unlocked and said stop by in the morning to pay for the room. Now that's hospitality. Walked over to the office and met Steve outside then introduced ourselves to Tami. They were so friendly, it was like being with family. They told us about the local attractions and restaurants in town. Cabins were very "cozy" as the name says it all. We will be back sooner than later. Thanks for having us!!!

My boyfriend and I reserved their "best" cabin for a weekend in late February, to try and get away for a bit. On arrival, the cabin smelled old and stale. The first thing that irritated both of us was the fact that their is not really a door on the bathroom, there are two western saloon shutters instead, making the bathroom far from private. This, in addition to the fact that the walls did not go all the way to the ceiling, leaving a huge gap so that everything can be heard all throughout the cabin. Since it was just the two of us, it was not a huge deal, but the website said that this cabin could sleep 4, so that could make for an uncomfortable stay. Next, the Whirlpool tub that was in the bathroom was filled with bugs and more importantly, spiders, and that theme seemed to follow the entire cabin, nothing was overly clean, including our bedding. There was a sign stating not to strip the bed when you leave, telling me that the duvet cover is re-used between guests, which is something that I just cannot handle. This brings me to our bed. Both the "master bedroom" bed and the daybed are like sleeping on concrete. I slept maybe 4 hours total, for both nights that we stayed in this cabin, making our "romantic vacation" less than fabulous. The beds are hard and completely uncomfortable, and as I mentioned, far from clean. There are SO many rules that go along with staying in that cabin and from what I've heard, all of the others as well, including one that forbids you to cook maple bacon. The worst part about this rule is that you are completely unaware of it until you arrive, at which time, most people have already done their grocery shopping. The owners also do not provide you with paper towels for the cabin, and basically the only thing that they do provide is toilet paper and some dishes that you should definitely wash before you use them, since the guests before you were responsible for “washing” them. Along with washing your own dishes, you are also expected to make sure that the cabin is completely clean when you checkout. I obviously would not have left a mess, but knowing that I was expected to clean a place that I was paying to stay at, really seemed to rub me the wrong way. This was just the icing on the cake for me, making me completely irritated that we had chosen to stay here at all. The only good things about our stay was the fact that Jackman is a very cute town, with some amazing views. We also traveled across the way to Greenville on one of the days, which was also very fun. I would not recommend that anyone stays here, unless you do not mind a ton of ridiculous rules and a not-so-clean cabin, in that case you should be all set. We, however, were very unimpressed that we spent almost $300.00 on a cabin that had the potential to be an oasis, but instead was more of a burden than anything else.
