“What a weekend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2010

My husband and I spent a relaxing cozy weekend at the Oxford Inn with great food and great company. The area has lots to offer with hiking and winter sports. The owners were amazing at helping us plan our weekend. We expected a fabulous dinner (which we had) but the fantastic breakfasts were an added bonus. We are looking forward to going back in the summer.

Great little inn with beautiful backdrop of New Hampshires White Mountains.
We were greeted by the very pleasant hostess and two animated and
very friendly "inn dogs". The downstairs is in the very stately Mission style, and
our room on the backside offered us a view of rolling farmlands and the White
Mountains. The building was designed by John Calvin Stevens, and I would
best describe it as "scaled back elegance".
We were quartered in "The Sewing Room" and were quite cozy. The morning
breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and sometime we will return to dine
off of the dinner menu. I have read rave reviews of the restuarant there.
I would return there anytime!!

The Oxford House Inn is a special place with special innkeepers, Natalie & Jonathon. They could not do enough to make us more comfortable. The inn is set in a small town in Western Maine with outstanding views. The Inn was a wonderful retreat from the everyday rigors. The food was outstanding- both dinners & breakfasts. The cute downstairs pub is a real find with its rustic atmosphere as the stove warms you on a cold winter night. Our highest recommenadtion goes to the Oxford House Inn.

Overall we had a very good stay of two nights at the Oxford House Inn in room number three. It is a wide room with a private bath, a large comfortable bed, TV, free Wi-Fi, and armchairs. Breakfast is excellent and served in a small room with big windows that is overlooking the mountains and exterior grounds at the rear of inn. There is a good restaurant at the inn where we had very fine dinners of steak, pasta, soup, etc'. The owner, Jonathan, is an accomplished chef. Most recommended.

We recently stayed here and what a treat! There is a new bed in the Sewing Room and it's so comfy we didn't want to leave! Each room is individually decorated, keeping the charm of this beautiful and historic building. The food is truly special and the young innkeepers made our stay extra enjoyable with hiking suggestions, shopping tips, etc. Can't wait to come back again.

This B&B had the worst bed of our whole trip. The mattress was just awful. You could hear and feel the springs on it ! We stayed in the sewing room, maybe since this room is the smallest it gets the crappiest bed? For this place charging so much a night you would think that the beds would be better then they are. Also the sheets are very "commercial" feeling, thin.
The window coverings were sub par at keeping out the streetlights.

The bathroom for this room is the size of a closet! I am not joking, it looks like it was actually a closet at one time. The shower is a stand up and only about 3x3 feet.

The food was excellent, the breakfasts were made to order and the service was great. Dinner was also wonderful but a little pricey. Drinks were also very good.

Overall the place looks pretty nice, the rooms are nicely decorated and the grounds are nice. There is a very good view of the mountains from the rear of the property. The Inn dogs are very friendly and fluffy!

I would NOT recommend this place to stay but it would be worthwile going for lunch or dinner, reservations recommended for dinner

We are glad to hear you enjoyed your dining experiences with us! We both have a passion for food and enjoy sharing this with our guests. We regret that you did not find the bed comfortable in the Sewing Room. It is on the list to be replaced in November '10. You are actually correct in your assumption that the shower used to be a closet! Our inn, designed by famous architect John Calvin Stevens in 1913, originally had all four guest rooms sharing the only bath! In-room vanities have been added, with closets being transformed to accommodate a private shower and toilet, thus utilizing the space we have without completely compromising the historical architecture of the inn. Two guest rooms were combined to form our Porch Room suite, which offers a larger bathroom with two person tub and separate tiled shower. We appreciate your honest feedback!

My partner and I came here to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary. I had called ahead to arrange for flowers, chocolates and a card to be placed in our room upon arrival, and everything was as I had hoped for, and then some. Our room (the porch room) was very comfortable, and the inn itself was very cozy. We ate in the tavern the first night and in the restaurant the second night, and the food and service were excellent. We hope to return sometime!
