“So Relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

We just completed our second girls getaway weekend stay here. Our stay this time was just as wonderful as our June 2011 trip but being here in the winter made the Inn even more inviting. This location is ideal-you are so close to downtown Freeport that you can walk but you are out of the traffic and congestion. You are also within an hour ride to several other beautiful Maine towns and islands worth exploring. Monica and Rock are wonderful hosts and the breakfast both days was great. We can't wait for our getaway weekend next year.

Thank you for your wonderful review! We're glad you were able to come back during the winter. The baked oatmeal is definitely staying on the menu, thanks for testing it out for us. We're going to check out the restaurants you found up the coast!

Hope to see you again next December!

We spent one night and wished we had planned ahead to spend and extra day or two. We enjoyed chatting with the hosts and they fixed a delicious breakfast in the morning. The is beautiful and the rooms very comfortable. It's on a quiet street just a short walk to the outlet stores in Freeport.

We spent a wonderful weekend at the White Cedar Inn in Freeport Me. As wonderful as the weekend was, our hosts, Rock and Monica, certainly made our stay unforgetable.
Our breakfasts , were not only delicious, but very creative. How did Rock get those swirls in our pancakes? And Monica made sure we knew the best places to get dinner etc. which was very important, because it was veterans day weekend, and any number of the very fine restaurants were giving discounts to veterans.
Our room, the Lillian Russell room was very comfortable, and the whole Inn was spotless. They have wi-fi,and a computer the guests could use,
We have to go back in late spring, because the Inns grounds will really show their beauty.
Freeport center is a short walk from the Inn..You can walk just about everywhere.
Monica and Rock left a thank you bag ,with home made goodies, for us, thanking my husband for his service in the military.. How sweet!
We will be back... Why wouoldn't we ?

Room Tip: I would ask Monica, because when I called she was very informative about every room.. our room was f...

We had a two night stay at the White Cedar Inn during our New England tour and we loved it. It's a beautiful house, lovely rooms, comfortable bed, everything could want is there. The breakfast is cooked while you wait and was the best we had on our travels.

The house is a short walk from LL Bean and the main Freeport shops and there are some great restaurants within easy walking distance. We particularly enjoyed our meal in the tavern of the Harraseeket Inn, just down the street.

But what makes the White Cedar Inn just that extra bit special is Monica & Rock. They were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. We really hope to return one day soon.

Thank you for the kind words. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and had a chance to explore different parts of Freeport and the surrounding area. We're still planning to try haggis whenever we make it over to your side of the pond.

We planned about a week to watch the leaves and catch up with old friends at Anchor Baptist Church (Biddeford). Over this week, my wife exclaimed, frequently and loudly, that this was the 'Best Vacation Ever!' Monica and Rock played a huge role in this. We met Monica at check-in, and she quickly reviewed the important rules. Then she showed me the room (Bowdoin), and handed me the keys. But wait! She had a surprise for my daughter, and for my dog. I won't reveal the surprises here, but I will say they also had a dog blanket, towel, bowls, 'doggy bags'...they thought of everything! The next morning we met Rock at breakfast - this man has skills! Over the course of our week, we had a new and exciting breakfast every morning. Our daughter, who is somewhat finicky with breakfast at times, loved the breakfasts, and Monica and Rock went out of their way to make them special, each and every day. When they found out our daughter would be enjoying a birthday, they made that special as well. It seems like they really liked us! When we discussed our adventure plans for the day, they had tips on the best route to get there, things to do along the way, or alternate plans to consider when the weather was lousy or the place was closed. They even had tips on where to find the best coffee in the world (not too far away, it turns out).
The room was very clean, towels were nice, our own bathroom which was also very clean. There was plenty of space for the 3 of us and a full-size dog, we never felt cramped or crowded. The Bowdoin has a small gas fireplace, which kept my wife and dog very happy for hours on end.
At the end of our trip we were really nervous when we had to ask the very daunting question...'Can we come back next year?' What if they said no?
But thankfully, we are allowed to return, and look forward to frequent trips to Maine and the White Cedar Inn.

Thank you very much for your overwhelming review. It was certainly a pleasure to meet all of you, Tater included. We're working on some new recipes for next year but we'll have plenty of strawberries on hand for your daughter.

Thank you again for the lovely comments. We certainly hope you make it back here again next year!

We spent one night at the White Cedar Inn during our New England summer vacation and we loved it! We stayed in the Casco Bay room located on the first floor: comfy bed, hardwood floor, lot of space, great atmosphere and, most of all, spotless clean. The breakfast, fluffy blueberry pancakes and sausage, was yummy and the innkeepers, Monica and Rock, super friendly and nice. All in all, this historic bed and breakfast was the icing on the cake of our trip!

The White Cedar Inn is a nice place to stay, within walking distance of the Outlet stores and several good restaurants. The Inn was easy to find with its own parking area and there was a nice welcome from the owners, Monica and Rock. There is a small TV/lounge with books and magazines and a computer for guests' use, as well as free WiFi. A plentiful breakfast was served in the sun room. A steep flight of stairs goes to the guest entrance from the car park, but if you walk around to the front of the house a flat path leads to the side door. We would happily stay there again if in the area.

Room Tip: We had a slight (English) misunderstanding with the owners' descriptions, so if you want a room...

Thank you for your review! We made a change to our wording in the hopes there will no longer be confusion about 'bath', 'bathroom', and 'shower'. Thank you for the suggestions! We're glad you enjoyed your stay with us.
