5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Clean, reasonable room with a great view of the ocean inlet and coastal mountains. Beds were fantastic - best sleep in a long time. Easy access to shopping, dining, etc. in Portland, Yarmouth, and Freeport and a short drive to ski slopes. Friendly staff, very accommodating. Associated cafe had diner style food that was very good. Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.

The pros of this hotel are a clean, comfortable room with a Keurig Coffee brewer, small refrigerator and microwave. The only con is that the hallway floor is poorly made so you can hear people walking up and down the hallway. To avoid this, ask for a room away from the entrance. (I gave "Sleep Quality" an average rating, due to the noise in the hallway.)

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night for a family function in town and we brought our two Mini-Dachshunds with us. The service at the front desk was pleasant but as soon as we reached our room we were disgusted and here's why:

Stains on the carpet, dust on EVERYTHING including the Keurig as well as an inch of dust around the room wherever their vacuum couldn't reach(carpet looked like it hadn't been professionally cleaned in years) totally unacceptable, nail clippings between the nightstand and bed-YES ACTUAL NAIL CLIPPINGS, a broken lamp on the nightstand(a very broken lamp), obvious mold on the bathtub in several spots, a broken outlet in the bathroom, missing paint in two places in the bathroom, a ripped shower curtain, a lot of hair on the mattress cover-hadn't been washed in who knows how long due to the different types of hair we found, absolutely horrible pillows(throw them out please), the worst mattress we have ever slept on in a hotel ever(very old and lumpy) and a wall unit that was not working properly(loud and rattling) which kept us up all night.

We happened to be booked into a room that was not pet friendly but they were accommodating due to all the pet friendly rooms being occupied but the cleanliness and maintenance of our room and the building was less than poor and I can’t even imagine what the pet friendly rooms looked like. Let’s just put it this way, even our dogs wouldn’t stay here again.

My daughter and I stayed here 1 night on the way back from a quick trip to Augusta to check out a apartment for her traveling nurse job at Maine General. We had her dog with us and stopped at LL Bean to do some shopping. We looked online for pet friendly places to stay and saw this place. I always thought it looked so nice driving by on our way to Freeport. We booked a room. As soon as we were checking in and mentioned the dog, they changed our room. They put us way up in the back. It was all woods around the parking lot and the door was propped open and the hall smelled of smoke. The carpet was all stained and smelled of urine, animal or human I dont know. Our room appeared to be clean. The freezer and racks in the frig were all busted out and it was very noisey. The bathroom was very cramped and had the only mirror in the place, the lights were very dim. We checked the beds and the sheets were clean. Doors were slamming all night and we had to take the dog out around 3 am and there were a couple of men smoking outside the door, we were afraid, but the dog had to go out. We stayed out in the woods surrounded parking lot until the men went in and we went back in. We booth were scared. We did go back to sleep. We couldnt wait to get out of this place. I also noticed when I opened the drapes, the lock on the sliding window was broken???? Here we slept in this scarey, seedy place with a unlocked window on ground level. OMG

Room Tip: Stay anyplace but here

Beware, there are two sections to this Inn. One is on the hillside and can be seen from the nearby road, the other is hidden in trees down the hill to the south near the Muddy River Restaurant. We have stayed in both and prefer the one on the hill, because it has good views Both have comfortable rooms and are quiet places to stay only 3 miles form the hustle and bustle of Freeport.
The cafe adjacent to the main part of the Inn serves good food all day and gives a 15% discount to BW customers
Excellent staff in Reception!
Plenty to do nearby once you have tired of shopping. Lovely coastal drives/walks within a reasonable distance.

We get to Freeport, Maine from our home in Juneau, Alaska every few years. We have stayed at several Freeport motels and this one is the one we chose to return to.

The reservation was easy to make, my request for the building was honored and the room was quiet, clean and has great beds. They are doing some upgrades/remodeling and we only saw the evidence (rolls of wallpaper and materials stacked in the halls)....no noise at all.

There are fancier places, there are pricier places, but this one works for a fair, clean, quiet place with comfortable beds.

Room Tip: We prefer the building away from the office and close to the Muddy Rudder Restaurant and river. The...

An older hotel, it is well maintained with friendly and responsive staff. Breakfast is NOT available on premises, there is a 15% discount at nearest Cafe. Internet connection is extremely slow. Price is reasonable for the area.

Room Tip: First or third floor has best access
