“Excellent in all regards.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2011

From charming and plentiful afternoon tea in the beautiful parlour to tasty dinner in the Broad Arrow Tavern to a great night's sleep in a spotless room and fabulous breakfast the next morning, what's not to like??

My husband and I are innkeepers and recognize when it is "done right" as it truly is at the Harraseeket!

The Harraseeket Inn in Freeport, Maine was recently the site of our daughter’s joyous and memorable wedding reception. Congratulations to entire Harraseeket family for a job well done.

When the Harraseeket says that working with them is “an amazing journey”, they are correct. It is just that!

Over the past seven months we have worked closely with the event planning staff. Words such as responsive, attentive, professional and personable best describe our experience. Most importantly, they focused on understanding our needs and then creating an event that will always be fondly remembered and cherished by family and guests. Special kudos go to the meal planning with the executive chef. The meal even incorporated our family recipes. Also, special attention was given to coordination with other selected vendors; the florist, musicians and bakery.

The reception itself was flawless. The welcoming and friendly atmosphere made a wonderful first impression on our guests. When rain prevented our planned seaside wedding photographs, arrangements were quickly made to accommodate us at the Inn prior to the reception. The reception room was just perfect and the food and beverage service superb. A magical evening!

Our guests were extremely impressed and compliments were many. “This is the best wedding reception we have ever attended.” This was particularly gratifying since we knew many of those attending are by nature quite discriminating and have dined all over the world. The Harraseeket provided a great example of warm and exceptional Maine hospitality.

Many thanks to all.

Sincerely,

Bill Berry, Father of the Bride and Amateur Wedding Planner

My fantasy of staying at the Harraseeket Inn was finally realized, and it was worth the wait! The garden-view room was supremely comfortable, with a refrigerator and a flat-screen TV. It was easy to sleep like a log between sheets with the feeling of satin. Nightly turndown service with chocolates on the pillow added to the luxurious ambiance.
The full buffet breakfast was excellent, and afternoon tea featured a sumptuous spread and live piano music. We loved the intimacy of the Broad Arrow Tavern, with delicious food and a nice selection of Maine microbrews.
We appreciated the clean and not-too-deep indoor pool, with thick towels provided.
Service was friendly and pleasant, and the location was ideal for walking anywhere in town.
The Harraseeket is a "green" hotel, committed to conservation. I wasn't crazy about the ecologically-designed shower, which was certainly adequate but lacked the spray of conventional showers. However, this is a minor quibble which was definitely outweighed by all the other amenities. We loved the Harraseeket!

Recently my wonderful husband arranged a get-away for my sisters and myself to the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport, Maine. What a great experience we had. From check in to check out, the folks at the Harraseeket were accommodating and friendly. Since there were 3 of us in our room, we were provided with a very comfortable roll away bed and 2 double beds. The room was spacious and immaculate. Our visit to the tavern and restaurant were wonderful with yummy food and drink. We cannot wait to go back to enjoy their hospitality again. Thank you to all at the Harraseeket for making our stay a memorable one!

We stayed for two nights and we well pleased with standard of our room. The high spot was the afternoon tea (included) but need to get there promptly to ensure a seat can be found. Good selection for breakfast and the restaurant served excellent food. Of course the location is key for outlet shopping which was the main purpose for our visit. A very successful visit.

We stayed at this inn expecting a good experience---we certainly paid a price that indicated we should expect that. We were offered a room with queen bed, jacuzzi, and fireplace. While we got those things, we felt we overpaid because of other issues. To start with, the parking lot was large, but we had to park the equivalent of about 2 blocks from our building. The fireplace was less than 4feet from the bed, making it a little too close for comfort. We were provided with a bundle of wood, newspaper, and instructions for using the fireplace. One thing was missing---matches. Our room was in the "carriage house", not the main building, with no elevator, so we opted not to go to the desk to ask for matches (the weather was cold and rainy). The jacuzzi tub was actually in the room and took up LOTS of floor space, leaving little room for baggage placement. The closet was tiny and the bed was placed up under an eave, so neither I (at 5'2") nor my 6 ft. husband could get into or out of bed without bumping our heads and taking the first few steps bent over. The carpet was stained and had bleach spots on it. The bathroom was a decent size but the shower was small and had no place to put shampoo, etc. The window in the bathroom was covered with cheap metal mini-blinds which had to be kept completely shut as it could be viewed from the hallway. This inn is generally considered an upscale establishment, and we did have a lovely breakfast buffet with white tablecloths and real silver. Maybe with a different room our experience would have been different, but we won't give it another chance.

Room Tip: Stay away from the carriage house!!

We are very sorry that you didn't enjoy your accomodations in our Carriage House. There are over twenty different room types here at the inn and our reservationists try very hard to describe each room accurately. Our Carriage House was built in the 1700's and several of the rooms have smaller dimensions and sloping eaves. While they are very popular rooms with many of our guests, clearly you did not enjoy your stay. The matches for the fireplace are usually placed on the mantel and we apologize for the oversite. Our staff is always ready and willing to bring whatever a guest needs to the room, and we would gladly have brought matches to you. We sincerely hope that you'll give us another try in the future, and if anything isn't to your liking, you'll give us the chance to make it right. We want everyone to enjoy their stay.

The people at the desk were really helpful and generous with their time and energy. The room was a little tired feeling but clean. The restaurant served one of the very best meals we had during a week long tour of Maine. I'd go back for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Fresh and Yummy.
