“One of the Best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2011

This is one of the nicest B&B's we've ever stayed at. The owners, Jenn & Jay Yilmaz, certainly know the meaning of hospitality. They're warm and friendly, and instantly make you feel part of the family. It's what B&B's are all about. We'll be back!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the jacuzzi!

We've stayed at the Applewood Inn for all major events during our daughter's 4 years at Bates College. She graduated in May, so naturally we were at Applewood Inn again. Jay and his family are wonderful hosts and we always felt special and so welcome. The Inn is beautiful furnished and ideally located. Breakfasts are our favorite time there. Jay's dad makes sure we have what we need, and we always meet such interesting guests. New Bates parents take note -- it's worth the trip down from Lewiston-Auburn to stay at the Applewood Inn. We will miss our regular visits there.

We have just returned from our 3rd visit to the Applewood Inn...and every visit seems to have eclipsed the previous one. Our youngest son has just graduated from Bates College a half hour away.Jay's bed & breakfast is a convenient, perfectly located place to "hang our hats" , shop , recharge our batteries after the 800 mile drive from Ohio. Lots of room here, immactulately appointed, clean, well-furnished, walking distance to great shopping ...but most of all Jay and his staff have made us feel like family . In the past 3 years we've gotten to know Jay & his family on a very personal level and every visit centers around updating each other on the current status -updates on how we are doing and how our kids are progressing.
To summarize, a wonderful place run by a charming host in a most relaxed atmosphere.
Our only regret is the distance that separates us from making more visits to the Applewood Inn.

My wife and I came down and enjoyed a great night at a GEM in Freeport Me. From the moment you walk in you feel like you are in a friends home. Then you see your room and it's obvious that Jay and his staff have taken great pains to provide you with a highlight of your year! We are not of great "means", but they made us feel like " Kings of the road". A little musical flashback always helps me put things in perspective! CLEAN,comfortable, and a place to come back to!!!

If you want quiet comfort this is your place. My husband and I stayed there for a weekend in Februrary of 2011. The family that owns this Inn is lovely! They are the most family friendly I have ever seen in an Inn. The rooms are fabulous, clean, upscale, and very comfortable. Jay tended to our every need, invited us to take whatever we needed, whether he was there or not, and was extremely friendly. The Inn is right beside LL Beans, and is a lovely walk to all the other shops. This place is fabulous!

I spent last weekend at the Applewood Inn with my fiancee and parents. The rooms were clean and cozy and the delicious breakfast cooked by the owners should not be missed. We have stayed at this B&B numerous times over the last six years and have many fond memories of the Applewood. The place is unique in that I have had both family gatherings and romantic weekends here. I would highly reccomend staying here for either purpose.
