The Swamp Buck sits on Maine St. in Fort Kent Maine, down the street from the terminus of Route One - yes that snake-like road beginning here and ending in Key West, Fla. And nothing about this restaurant could be even remotely close to the Florida Keys. This is north country - where the road (almost) ends, and The Alagash (almost) begins. Nice atmosphere, with dear heads galore, knotty pine walls and flooring, lamps and chandeliers sitting atop antlers. Very authentic and very welcoming. Food: you get a LOT on your plate. Taste is somewhat ordinary, but the place is certainly worth a visit. Lunch offers an abundance of choices, including salads -and dinner offers a wonderful charred prim rib.
