“Excellent lobster roll!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

My husband and I enjoyed a quick lunch before a performance at Maine State Ballet. We got an outside table and it was lovely. Our waiter was friendly and helpful, especially when I found something on the inside of my glass of wine (not sure if it was a bug or a piece of cork - but he took it back and got me a new glass). I had the lobster roll and it was fresh and light - the lemon mayo was delicious. My husband ordered the turkey club sliders, which were an appetizer, but were enough for lunch when we shared the fries that came with my lobster roll. They offer the option of a mix of sweet potato and regular fries, which is a nice option if you can't decide.

“Food was okay; took forever”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

We had three generations that went to dinner together. It was myy mother-in-law's party, and she likes to eat early, so we made a 6pm sharp reservation. We were all seated in plenty of time and drinks came quickly. We ordered right away then we waited...and waited....and waited. We waited over an hour and finally the waitress came out to say they had broken glass in the kitchen, and she brought us some complimentary appetizers while we waited some more time for our food.

My mother in law was not happy about the 1.5 hour wait for our food. Our "early" dinner finally ended at 8:30pm. In fairness to the restaurant, they brought us 2 free appetizers for the table and offered free desserts, but I'm afraid that the mood had soured by then, unfortunately.

The tuna special was good and the summer strawberry salad was very good too.

“Waitress with an attitude”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

Place is noisy and needs a makeover. Waitress had an attitude a mile long! It took 15 minutes for her to come to our table to take an initial drink order. No personality. We had to ask for bread, water refills. Food was delicious though!

“Foreside food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Decided to try this place since every time we drove by the parking lot was full. Only take reservations for 8 or more (we had 7) but still not wait at 7pm on a friday. The food was amazing. The nacho appetizer was enough for 2 meals by itself. The mussels appetizer was garlicky and divine. The entrees at our table were the duck (crispy outside, medium rare inside), pan fried haddock (with lovely capers), veggie stir fry (sublimely spicy) ribeye (perfectly medium rare) and bruschetta salad. All were excellent and shared around the table.

“Fantastic food! Every time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

We have eaten or taken out lunch and dinner from here so many times over the last 7 years and never ONCE were we disappointed! I'd say we eat from or at the Tavern at least 2-3 times a month! The nachos are to die for and the burgers are super tasty! We love the seasonal menu so options change every once and a while...great for folks like us who frequent the tavern year-round. We bring our brood of kids there and they are very family-friendly! Kid menu has many yummy options. Always great service.....always! Never been disappointed...not once in almost 7 years!
