This just opened in Ellsworth, Me at the end of April this year, so of course with the avast amount of restaurants in the area, you know we had to try it out. Well of course the first few days after opening, it was terribly crowded, never saw Friendlys parking lot like this. They really tried to spruce the place up, even put in a train that goes around the ceiling, bathrooms clean, even cleared up the terrible, digusting water issues that plagued Friendlys.
We had to be fair and try the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. Not being familar with Governor's chain, can't compare this to their other locations.
They have quite an extensive menu of choice. Breakfast, spouse had The Capital and I had the Special, also tried the corned beef hash as a side. Your plates were full and no reason to go away hungry. Lunch, I had the Vidallia Chicken Salad and the Lepage Burger, my salad had 5 small pieces of chicken, spouse had a dry burger, his bun was oversized, had to look for the burger. Dinner, I had the Mini Cheesburgers, again dry with the burgers, spouse had the meatloaf, also dry. Sorry about using the word "dry" alot, but that is how it was. Food was okay, nothing struck our fancy. I guess if you want a change of chefs in the area, give it a try.
What upset me was, they did not have a Senior Menu, AARP discounting or smaller versions of meals for adults. They have what they call "Governor's Club Member", you have to spend $250.00 to get $10.00 reward, not sure what you do with that, but I know we will never see the $10.00 reward.
They had a few issues with the grand opening, but it seems to have quieted down by now, although, we did wait 20 minutes today for our breakfast, the waitress said, our meal ticket was stuck on the other side of something, she felt bad about our long wait.
Been there, done that, enough for me.

Thanks for your very through review of our new Ellsworth store - we certainly appreciate the feedback. We know we're not perfect yet, and we're all working very hard to get better.
I also wanted to explain a little better our Go Gov's reward card, because we most certainly care about our senior friends... We've found in the past that if we offer a senior discount it gets abused by people, so we've really tried to reward our local loyal customers who really support us. Yes, you do get $10 for every $250 you spend with us. You also get a reward every year on your birth month, and we do feature a special deal each month just for card holders. This month happens to be a half price ice cream sundae, other specials have been a buy one breakfast get one free, and coming up this summer we will be doing a free side salad upgrade.
Again, thanks so much for the feedback... Our first month in Ellsworth has been filled with a lot of positive comments, but we are always looking to improve!
