“Great rooms and atmosphere, skip the breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

The distance to Acadia Park was about 8 miles or 20 minutes. We purposely went out of our way to stay at a Hampton Inn. The room conditions were good, and we were glad to be able to trust the Hampton reputation. The only complaint is the low quality of the free breakfast -- totally not worth it.

Hampton Inns come as standard so only local matters are worth commenting on. The rooms are clean, mattresses deep, and there is an ample supply of good towels. The young man at reception was very helpful, but the computers in the business room were maddingly slow. B/fast was good, facilities spotlessly clean, and service friendly. There is a paucity of eating places nearby but the Governor Family Diner suited our needs. The Hotel was very busy and I believe we had the last room at 9am. So if you are travelling in a holiday season, or at a weekend it would be worth making a reservation. Normally I like to see the room before taking, but you need not worry about quality at this hotel which we recommend without reservation.

Hotel is consistently clean and inviting. Staff make feel very welcome. I look forward to Pat's pizza down the street. although a bit pricier than other hotel options in Ellsworth, I feel it is worth the money.

Staff always pleasant and breakfast is great. The Ale House up the road serves great burgers and staff very pleasant. The only downside to the hotel is that the gym and pool should open earlier to accomodate the business crowd who likes to get out in the morning. The best thing are the cookies, and plenty of tea and coffee.

The brand new Hampton Inn in Ellsworth, Maine is great, always happy with their service and the hotel as a whole, our only complaint was the pillows, next time I will request the non-feather ones. We didn't sleep much and made the whole trip difficult.

We were in town for a funeral, our first time to the area. Some of the group we were with decided to stay right down the road at the Colonial Inn. Prior to booking our hotel room, I did some research on TripAdvisor and found the reviews to be very poor for the Colonial Inn (out of 49 reviews, 23 were terrible). Of course it was cheaper to stay there, however in my opinion there are many more important qualities that I look for when locating a hotel. My number one concern is cleanliness! Plus, being a Hilton Honors member I always try to pick a Hilton hotel where ever we go. We were thoroughly impressed with this hotel. From the moment we walked in I could tell it was well maintained and the employees really cared about the property. Our room was large (we had a king sized bed), clean, quiet and comfortable. There was a hand written note left next to the bed that said “your duvet cover and sheets were cleaned for your arrival”. Obviously, the sheets’ being cleaned is a no brainer but the duvet being cleaned is much appreciated added touch! The hotel also has a salt water pool and a hot tub; unfortunately we did not have time to try them out. Our room had a refrigerator, microwave and a coffee pot. It also had a bench at the end of the bed, a winged chair and a desk. We stopped by the breakfast area on our way out and were pleasantly surprised at everything they had to offer. I went for the oatmeal (which was the real deal- homemade) and was not disappointed, my fiancée made an egg sandwich and he was just as pleased. They also had a waffle making station, 4 or 5 cereal choices, yogurt, fruit and muffins/toast. We ended up stopping by the Colonial Inn to visit other family staying there and all I have to say is we certainly made the right decision on the hotel, the poor reviews were dead on! I was more than willing to pay the extra money to have the amenities and cleanliness we had at the Hampton Inn. I asked the front desk at check out when the hotel was built; expecting her to say 2012 and she said 2010. I couldn't believe it, the hotel looked brand new! There are a few other options for hotels in the area but from what I can see this is by far the best pick. Overall, this hotel hit it out of the park and we would absolutely stay here again.

I got the chance to stay at this property again. I have a customer right up the road from the hotel. So it makes it perfect for calling on this customer. The hotel was clean, the front desk person was very pleasant and helpful. I will be staying here later in the season for work and play.
