“two great days in Acadia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

Pleasant little gem, not on Mount Dessert but close enough, very clean, quiet, pieceful accomodations, elegant, big room. Walking distance from main street--about 1 mile with some great restaurants. Will definitely come back!

Room Tip: Ask for a room "in the back."

This motel was our first experience with TripAdvisor and it was a gem! The room was clean and comfortable, the owners friendly and helpful, and both the indoor and outdoor (covered patio) settings were cozy for enjoying a decent continental breakfast. Because this was night #3 and #4 on our long-distance road trip, it was convenient to have a laundry room available. This room offered detergent, an ironing board, iron, and games/books. The basic rooms are small, but adequate if you're spending most of your time in Acadia or elsewhere in the area, and it has that old, Route 66 charm we always search out. Upon reaching home weeks later, we discovered that good friends have also stayed here and consider it one of their favorite off-water spots in Maine.

Room Tip: The original strip of rooms is closer to a busy highway, but there are newer, larger rooms in back...

The room was tiny, the bathroom was even tinier, and smelled stronly like mildew. The hotel is actually more like a bunch of small camping trailers put next to each other. Wasnt the cleanest hotel either. Location was good and for the area, was a good price, but you get what you pay for. I'd put in a few more bucks and get something a bit nicer. Continental breakfast was pretty sparse as well.

We were looking for an inexpensive place to spend a night near Acadia National Park prior to visiting the next day . Twilite Motel lived up to the reviews posted on T/A. Found the owners very helpful and hospitable, even allowing me to go through their change bucket in my search for US states commemorative 25c (and I found some I needed for my set). Breakfast was adequate and especially nice on the veranda. Bed was comfy and the setting with the trees in front with the easy chair really was very relaxing. Perfect for what we wanted.

Clean, comfortable, convenient, very reasonably priced. Need I say more? But Tripadvisor requires that I do, so I'll add that the owners are friendly and helpful and that on future trips to the area I won't stay anywhere else.

I enjoyed my stay here. My room was as described when I booked it. Also clean and nice atmosphere. Staff was very friendly. Yes, the muffins are great. i could hook into wifi if i was in the vicinity of the office. My one issue (not really an issue for me, but may be for some) was the fluctuating water temperature in the shower. Try to shower at an "off" time and it shouldn't be a problem. But FYI, 8am is a rollercoaster of shower temperatures ;)

It's very near downtown ellsworth, only 20 mins away from acadia or bar harbor. I thought it was set far back enough from the road; I didn't hear the traffic at all. Many of the other motels I saw in the area were sitting right on the road. Plus AAA discount! I'm glad I picked Twilite and I'll stay here again next time I visit Acadia.

Have stayed at the Twilite several times. It has the friendliness of a B&B, without the noise and impersonality of a name brand hotel. Rooms are clean and have everything you need, and breakfast on the veranda is very pleasant, and far enough away from the highway that you feel like you are in a friend's garden. Look forward to staying there again.
