“Hidden paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

This is one place you need to stay at to believe. The layout, the friendly staff, the tranquillity, and just the overall ambience is great. Although the location being 20 minute drive from Ubud was slightly inconvenient, the free shuttle bus to Ubud made up for that. My wife and I go to Bali on a regular basis and have just found this Garden of Eden. This is one place that we will definitely place on our agenda to stay at on future visits. Just loved the private swimming pools in each and all Balinese style Villas and the food at the restaurant. We found the rooms to be very spacious and layed out with a large flat screen TV, fridge and fully airconditioned.

Room Tip: We found the 'basic' Balinese Style Villas to be by far better value compaired to the larger...

If you would like a quiet unobtrusive holiday..Then visit Furama Villas and Spa !
You can have a choice of a villa backing onto a shared long pool... with your own private deck area to lounge on or swim next to..

Or do as we did.. rent a private villa , complete with Old Fashioned bali/indonesian style high wall and gated .

Inside you will enjoy your own pool and spa in a grassed courtyard area, that also has a small deck with two reclining deck chairs to relax on and read a few books (which is what I did to unwind) , plus upstairs and downstairs villa - Our's had 3 tv's ,an semi outside shower, and an upstairs master bedroom with looked out over a beautiful scenic rice fields. It was all very clean, beautiful and well done.

Transport too and from this villa to the main restaurant area of Furama villas and spas, was via golf buggy . The main restaurant area consisted of an open air style restaurant upstairs which had lovely views and below a swimming pool with a swim up bar.The restaurant served excellent food, always finishing with a healthy serve of beautiful fresh fruit. The waiters and waitresses were also lovely and pleasant. Nothing seemed too much trouble.

Although obviously the place was full, it seemed quiet and relaxed there.

A shuttle bus left daily for exursions ..Or simply to go into the town of Ubud.

I had a beautiful spa and massage there also which proved to be very refreshing.

Be aware that they do smog the trees for mosquitos..and if you think like us.. you could be forgiven for thinking the place was on fire...but truly.. they are just smogging the trees..and it's not long before the smoke clears, so don't be alarmed if you go there.

Really it's a great place, you can also order room service to your room too.

Definately reccommend this place .

Room Tip: If you want your own privacy- ask for the 2 storey enclosed villas at the back of the resort..Instea...

Kudos to the staffs who were generally very helpful and friendly. We requested for a packed breakfast on one of the mornings because we had to leave the hotel at 6am. I was expecting a simple breakfast box, but it was lovingly packed with fruits, eggs, bread, sausages and even bottled water. Very impressed!

I would have gladly given full marks, except that our villa was showing its age in some places. With proper upkeep, this place would have been perfect.

On a side note, be wary of hotel staffs who are overly nice and offers to be your guide/driver. We hired one but regretted it. We wanted to visit local art galleries but were driven to a very touristy art community (can't remember the name). We asked to visit Bali's famous rice terraces and he drove us to a place where we had to pay an entrance fee to see rice terraces! The place felt so fake with souvenirs being shoved at us. This was really the low point of our entire trip.

Delux Villa was spacious and can easily fit a family of 6. The bathroom had an outdoor shower option and an indoor tub to soak in. Many sections of the Villa were not well maintained. The massage area and the pavilion next to the pool had cushion covered with gecko droppings and the plants surrounding the pool were moldy and neglected. Also, the villa is not for someone afraid of creepy crawlies as you will be frequently visited by wasps and other flies. In fact, I shared my villa with a tree frog that woke me up once or twice in the night with its a resounding croak. The biodiversity in the Villas is a result of being in such close proximity to the padi fields. All in all, you get the feeling that more funds would be reinvested back into the maintenance of the premise.

Having said this, it is a very peaceful resort and the staff were friendly and prompt to settle any issues you have. A place worthwhile to check out if you are in that area of Bali.

Upon arrival, we were upgraded to one of the exclusive villa's.

This complex is set in the middle of a working Rice Field, and it is strangely peaceful, and calming. We felt that we had all the privacy in the world in our little villa. The villa itself, was beyond luxorious.

Surrounded by a man made stream, and backing into a small private dipping pool, which leads onto a shared swimming pool, the size of a football pitch !

The room itself was well proportioned and decorated, with all glass panels. It felt airy, and bright. The food was great too.

I was very impressed with the facilities and overall feeling of luxury at this hotel. They offer a free shuttle service to the town center, which you should always take advantage off.

If i could, i would always stay at Furuma in ubud.

Oh yes....one small point.....

...on one of the evenings after a meal, as we walked back to our room, we were confronted by a Snake on the pathway, inside the hotel complex, on the footpaths around the rice field. We were told by staff that this is not unusual as it is a hotel that prides itself on its closeness with nature, and snakes are part of this.

However, i am not sure how i would feel if i had young children and they were confronted with a snake.

Word of warning, be sensible when booking.

This is indeed the best property I've every been to in my life. Me and my wife stayed here while being on honeymoon. It's so beautiful that' one can't even describe in words. Everything from Staff, Villa, private pool, scenery around the property, location is unbelievably good.

This is the best place to stay especially when you're on your honeymoon.

We spent the first week in Kuta and it is always great fun, but Ubud is the the True Bali (but is getting very busy now). The Furami is the Tranquility and luxury that we all need at some time in the year.
This is the second year Anna & I have stayed at the Furami Ubud Spa & Villa's and after a very busy year we needed to just relax. The Furami is Unbelievably relaxing and the whole time there I felt completely at peace and very chilled out.
The Staff are nothing short of fantastic, they are very friendly, helpful and feel like they are true friends by the time we left.
UNBELIEVABLE and we will be back :)
