“Wonderful staff & lovely views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Very nice but extremely simple little resort. The staff and manager (Andre) are very accomodating and kind. The complimentary continental breakfast is almost nonexistent but is made for with the small private beach and pool.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Visited five years during first week of August. Last year, the 60 rooms were nearly full. This year (2013), only 16 cars maximum in the parking lot on Tues. night. As other reviews noted, the place is vintage early '70s. Outside of buildings well maintained. I would say an absolutely great place for families because of the lawn, pool, and small beach with shallow high tide swimming in an area almost surrounded by large ledges/rocks.
Clean rooms, beds, and baths. Free toast, bagels, cereal, juice, and coffee at breakfast time. Five minutes to East Boothbay store for other breakfast and great sandwiches. Noon and evening dining at the East Boothbay Marina. Fifteen minutes to Boothbay Harbor dining and boat trips, Park near the high school for a free trolley ride into and around the village center or to the Maine Aquarium.
Prices seem negotiable, pet friendly; however, an office sign discloses a one time $25 charge that I would bet is also negotiable to zero, if discussed. Recommend that prospective guests call rather than accept the rates advertised on the websites. There are a few first floor room views obstructed by ground contour for the pool and a few second story views obstructed by a building closer to the beach (See the website facility layout diagram.)
The local Five Gables Inn is an attractive place but does not seem to have the lawn, beach, or pool for families. The Ocean Point Inn is a classic Maine resort style but does not have the beach. The O.P. Inn restaurant is pricy for average families; however, their sunset views can be beautiful as are views along Shore Drive. Linnegin Bay Resort is classic but seems "in the woods".

Room Tip: Avoid obstructed view rooms unless selected for even greater price reduction. Note that I rated fit...

You can pay a LOT more at fancier places in Boothbay Harbor or East Boothbay Harbor, but you won't find a better view or friendlier and more helpful staff. The accomodations are basic and a bit dated, but, really, you're not here to hand around the room and watch TV - right? You want a clean place to sleep and not pay more than you have to so you can spend it on lobster dinners. The pool is clean and well-situated.

My wife and I stayed here last night, July 27th. It's tucked away, about a 10 minute drive to Boothbay Harbor proper.

we sat and watched the sunset right from our deck over looking the harbor. Gorgeous. Once the sun went down the mosquitos were unbearable. We were eaten alive in minutes.

The room itself was clean but very dated. The sheets old and stained. The shower just dribbled water. No shower since there was no water.

our next trip we will pay the extra $100 and stay at Spruce Point or some other more accomodating place.

but the view was killer!

A return trip to this old time motel. The location is picturesque, peaceful and idyllic. The room was clean, comfortable bed and very basic. We had found a coffee maker on a visit last fall and now they have been removed. As an early riser missed my coffee and breakfast area not open until 8AM. This is definitely a budget friendly spot but feel they could easily make it a bit more welcoming without a lot of money.

Room Tip: Lantern complex built out over water!

We were on our annual motorcycle trip and decided to stay here Sunday 7-14 through wed 7-17. What an amazing view!! This isn't a Holiday Inn or big box hotel chain with the fancy hot breakfasts but for the value and the view I'd rather stay here. The staff were so amazingly friendly and helpful. They let us use their washing machines to do laundry so we didn't have to find a laundromat. I would definitely come back here, truthfully I don't want to leave.

We returned to stay here this July as you can't beat the view and being right on the water for the modest price you pay here! We have stayed twice before and each time have found it to be a clean, basic motel with great views and friendly staff. We were in the Lantern building this time, with a great view right outside our window. Previously we were in Dory on the second floor, also with a nice view. The breakfast included is a basic one but always enough and the breakfast building also has a wonderful view. I travel with my own granola (just in case) as I need to be gluten free so I only had coffee and juice but my husband had enough with cereal etc. The weather wasn't cooperating, misty and cool, so we couldn't use the nice little pool but that's how it goes! I did get to read on the beach for a bit with a light fleece on and enjoyed the atmospheric fog. Early in the morning, I could watch a lobsterman setting his traps right from our window, in the little cove. There aren't too many places one can do that on the coast in Maine without spending a great deal more. We also really like the area of East Boothbay as it is not touristy and crowded like Boothbay Harbor. A lovely scenic drive to Smuggler's Cove, yet not far from restaurants and other Maine attractions. Really no problems here at all.

Room Tip: Ask for a second floor room to get an ocean view.
