“Finest Dining on Deer Isle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

Just returned from visiting my sister in Deer Isle. I didn't stay at the Pilgrim's Inn, but I did dine (twice!) at the Whale's Rib Tavern. The food was fabulous. A great steak with fresh asparagus and mashed potatoes one night, and a pasta with gorgonzola sauce the other night. The staff was super nice and ambiance very cozy and inviting.

The Pilgram's Inn was charming, immaculate and authentic. The views were beautiful, the restaurant was amazing. It is a quiet little town, so not much to do. If you want peace and quiet in a beautiful B&B, you will love your stay. Don't miss the great chocolate chip cookies!

I'm not sure how they put calm into the air at this inn, but they do. Within minutes of arriving, I was in a different headspace - feeling time slow down and the comfort all around. The simplicity of this historic inn mixed with the care given to the details made for a positive experience at every turn - the cookie jar with fresh and delicious homemade cookies was the icing on the cake. I stayed in Room 9, slept well in the comfortable bed, and enjoyed the view of the fog on the street in the morning. The room faced the street, so there was some street noise at night, but not enough for me to turn on the sound machine that was provided; I didn't hear any noise from within the inn. The pre-breakfast early coffee offering was a treat, and breakfast was delicious. I had some work to do, so I spent time both inside and outside working, finding a new comfortable location every day to click away at my laptop. Despite my original plan, I ended up eating dinner at the inn each night - in the dining room, at the tables in the bar, and at the bar in the bar - I was warmly received in each spot and was fed excellent food and delicious Maine beer. Maybe the most distinguishing piece is that there seems to be a genuine respect for the inn that the staff feels that is carried through to how its guests are welcomed. Incredible. I stayed an extra day during that visit and am looking forward to my next visit already.

What a lovely, historic, authentic place. The building is so tastefully done - we loved the old floors and creaky stairs. And the grounds were wonderful - we spent a restful morning with our coffee sitting outdoors staring at the lake. Then insode for a sumptous bWe will definitely return. And the restaurant, The Whale's Rib, was fabulous. Such a wonderful experience.

We stayed at Pilgrtim's Inn & Cottages for two nights in September 2012. We stayed in a room on the second floor of the inn. We ate dinner twice at the inn. Our total visit to Deer Isle lasted nine nights. The inn has great ambiance that respects its heritage. One shouldn't go to an inn that dates back to the late 1700s and expect bathrooms and other modern facilities to be without the occasional quirk. That being said, our room was very comfortable and tastefully furnished; the facilities such as the bathroom were fine. Our room, facing the rear of the inn, was quiet. The staff, including the dining room and bar staff, were very friendly and helpful. We apprecited the little touches such as coffee placed in the hall each morning. The meals, including breakfast, were very good.

Our stay at the Pilgrim's Inn and Cottages was wonderful. We stayed in one of the cottages and the decor was welcoming, pleasant and calming. The bed was comfortable and the amenities were top notch. The Inn is beautifully decorated, the setting is pristine, the food is consistent and well planned and prepared. I would highly recommend the Inn to anyone wanting a relaxing get away in a historical setting. Staff is helpful and eager to make your stay enjoyable without being intrusive. Hats off to the owners for attention to detail that make your business first rate.

Very nice innkeepers. Only negative is that the walls are very thin, which makes it a bit noisy if other guests stay up late talking loudly in the common rooms. Innkeepers need to make a notice reminding guests to talk softly after nine o'clock or so.
