“Super friendly pub with extraordinary grub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

This is a family friendly slightly out of the way pub with a great atmosphere. The whiskey selection is second to none and the staff is pretty darn good. The food is the star though. The specials board reads more like fine dining than a pub. Great fish dishes and oysters fresh from the river. Doesn't get any better.

“Love the oysters,”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

During our three day stay in New Castle, we ate two evenings at King Eider's Pub. We found the seafood very good, and the Oysters Rockefeller very tasty to say the least. We did order the BBQ oysters and would not order them again, they seem to overpower the taste of the oysters. The mussels were good and along with an Irish Coffee, life is good.

“Fantastic Meal with friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We were in Maine for the weekend and our friends suggested this restaurant. I went in expecting the usual pub fare on the menu, but I was very wrong. There was so much variety on the menu! It was awesome! I had the crab cake sandwich (so good!), and our table had oysters and the honey baked brie for apps. It was a wonderful meal! The service was great too!

“Something for all”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

We each had something we enjoyed & the prices weren't bad for all we got. Great atmosphere, great service, great food, good coffee, good portions. variety on the menu. The town is cute. Just great! We took our teenage daughter & her friend; we all found something & enjoyed it. I wouldn't bring a small child as the menu might be a bit fussy for them & there isn't much room for high chairs, it is a more adult restaurant. Besides someone had a small child when we'd 1st gotten there & while I love children I don't go out to a restaurant to hear a screaming kid; it didn't last too long & it is unusual for someone to bring small kids.

“A really good find in a quaint Maine town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

Traveling north or south on Maine's route 1, we always try to take a detour through Damaraiscotta in October to enjoy the huge decorated pumpkins that line the streets during Pumpkinfest. Although we were a few days too early to enjoy the pumpkins this year(They will be here over the Columbus Day holiday weekend) we were able to get right into King Eider's Pub, set back on Main street right next to Reny's. And we were so glad that we tried this place. My guest and I shared two starters; the crab cakes and 1/2 dozen oysters on the half shell. The crab crakes were very good; they were seasoned well and the homemade 'lite" tartar sauce was excellent Although I must concur with another reviewer that they lacked lump crabmeat, I enjoyed them and I must confess, I am pretty picky when it comes to crab cakes. The oysters were excellent! We then moved on to our entrees:a coconut curry seafood stew and a seafood pot pie with a puff pastry top. Both were full of fresh seafood: lobster, scallops, salmon, etc... A fresh crisp garden salad accompanied both. We enjoyed our entrees and shared an Irish cupcake for dessert that was decadent! King Eiders has a small dining room upstairs and a true pub on the first level. There are stairs both outside and inside, so I recommend that you check to see if it is accessible for you. Try this place out if you have time. It is just a few minutes off of Route 1(North).
