“Great lobster roll”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Had followed this restaurant on Facebook so wanted to come and see for myself if the lobster roll was as good as claimed. It was even better and the price was right.

“A World Beyond Lobster ...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

... is served up fresh, friendly and fun here! All the elements making up a great Lobster, and this case, Chowder House, converge here in perfectly indulgent harmony. Well sized portions, that also make it possible for kids to try things like fried clams and other potentially scary items, complement the delicious chowder, and the unavoidable, but suitably delicious and requisite lobster fare. Despite a longish queue, their system for ordering food was efficient, super-friendly, patient and obviously well honed. The service was quick, with the food being delivered to your table, rather than having to hang out at a counter (so that you can actually enjoy the stunning splendour of the harbour and soak in the sea air as an appetizer to your meal). And ... very nice, there was an excellent, cold, local beer on tap. If the weather's nice, this is definitely not a place to miss ... especially at sunset. Afterwards take a stroll on the docks below and inspect the various forms of lobster traps, check out the boats and if you did opt for a multiple lobster bonanza, relax after the sumptuous battle!

“Casual Goodness”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

Four of us had a late Friday lunch at the Chowder House after visiting Kennebunkport. There is restaurant parking. You order and pay for your food inside the shack. Tiny kitchen. They give you a number and you can eat at one of the several small tables insides (it was hot inside) or outside at a picnic table. The fried clam dinner had the best clams I had in Maine. Lots and lots of clams poured over a mound of french fries. I did find the cole slaw bland. The chowder is fantastic! There is a restroom on site.

“Not to be missed...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

The quintessential Maine meal...fresh seafood well prepared, eaten at picnic tables out on the dock overlooking Cape Porpoise harbor, fabulous view. Very casual...food is ordered inside and delivered to your table. Favorites are the chowder, lobster roll and clam (whole bellied not strips) roll.

Go early. The restaurant is small and tables fill quickly...take out is available.

Don't miss it...if you do, you have missed the best part of a trip to Maine.

“Fried Clams and Lobster”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

This was our last meal before we left Maine after our week of vacation. We ended up saving the best for last. The fried clams were the best all week and the lobster was so so so good. Value wise in line with the rest of the places we ate during the week. We got there shortly after they opened so no issues getting a table with an umbrella. It was a beautiful day to sit outside and eat really good seafood. The only issue with getting there early was all the fisherman were still out so parking was non existent so we had to park down the street a bit and walk back up.
