My husband and I were in Camden for not even a full day, so we went to French and Brawn Market and picked up some cheese and french bread and took a picnic to a bench overlooking the harbor. It was perfect! While we were enjoying the peaceful view, we heard music coming from the amphitheater across the street, so after eating we walked over. A duo from the library were playing guitar and violin and singing Edna St. Vincent Millay's poems which the female guitar player had put to music. Now, if I were reading this review, I might be thinking that sounds weird and a little hoity-toity, but it was great! Kind of bluegrass-y and folk music-y and it just suited the day and the location perfectly. They both played beautifully and the woman had a lovely voice. The picnic, the music, a hike later to the top of Mt. Battie, and then a cocktail on the porch at the Whithall Inn made for an exceptional day that we will not forget!
