“A beautiful hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2011

It took five trips to the Camden area before we discovered this beautiful and unique Inn. The owners have created, in pioneer fashion by their own hands and hard work, a magnificent garden with charming, immaculate, and very well equipped cottages overlooking Penobscot Bay. Imagine waking in the morning to a beautiful sunrise and a lobsterman passing by your window checking his traps. Our hosts were extremely gracious and accommodating, and did everything to make our stay a memorable one. We look forward to returning to this special Inn.

Our experience at Cedarholm Garden Bay Inn was exceptional. We stayed in the beautiful oceanfront Loon cottage. The cottage included a very spacious living area, two person whirlpool tub, a stunning wood burning stone fireplace and remarkable ocean views. All four oceanfront cottages are perfectly positioned to give privacy and peace while enjoying your own oceanfront deck. The cottages are surrounded by an abundance of vibrant ferns. The grounds have a breathtaking variety of flower and vegetable gardens, all maintained by the owners of the Inn. Two additional cottages are set back and surrounded by the magnificent gardens. This Inn exceeded all of our expectations. The cottages were immaculately clean and comfortable. A fresh breakfast was provided every morning by the owners. An unbelievable stay!

Overall experience.... exceptional. This is a very beautiful and private property that overflows with thought and care inside and out. We stayed 5 nights in the Loon cottage and were extremely pleased. What could be better... our own private seaside cottage with windows and French doors filled with water views combined with highly tasteful and comfortable decor. The grounds and gardens are breathtaking and very botanical like. Without going into details, the owners George and Kristen, were the icing on our experience with their genuine kindness and "insider" guidance. (Kristen's homebaked scones are delectable).

My husband and I stayed in the Osprey cabin on this lovely and beautifully maintained property. The cabins are situated for maximum privacy and are very well maintained. We shared a bottle of wine from the local winery while soaking in the fabulous ocean view right in front of us. There is a deck right over the beach bringing your right over the water and with great views of the sky.
The inn keepers provided us with terrific local information that gave us access to uncrowded trails and to a wonderful lake for swims.
We hope to visit again.

Returned from a trip to Camden and a stay at the Cedarholm 2 weeks ago--ready to go back! We loved our "cottage" (so much more than a cottage) and the grounds are heavenly-never have seen anything like it and I'm so envious! The owners couldn't have been lovelier (Mom and Dad and daughter and husband), with lots of info about the surrounding area and great gardening tips! The grounds and accommodations are immaculate and beautifully designed. We had considered staying "in town" and were so glad we chose the Cedarholm--it's close but allows for such a relaxing retreat (we came to get away from the hustle and bustle, after all) Couldn't recommend it more highly...even got a parting gift of an incredible dahlia and a cup of delicious fresh-picked cherry tomatoes.

We were very happy with our stay here. We had one of the garden-view cottages. They are far enough from the road so that you do not hear traffic, which is great because you can really sleep peacefully. Also, being cottages you get a lot of privacy, even when you open the curtains to get the full views.

Our room was totally and absolutely clean to the most hidden details. Just perfectly clean.

The only thing I would change is improve a bit on the breakfast. It is described as continental and that is what it really is. It would be nice if there was an option for some eggs, even soft/hard boiled eggs would have made our breakfast complete. The baked good are really good.

We've been to the Cedarholm three times -- in 2007, 2008, and just now in 2010. There is no nicer place you could imagine on the Maine coast. The family that runs it is kind, considerate, and enormously capable. They built the cabins (which should actually be named something other than "cabin", as that word doesn't do justice to these perfect, immaculate dwellings that are as private and luxurious as Maine has ever seen), they've planted and tended the spectacular gardens, and they know everything about the area and can recommend the best activities and restaurants. It's pricey, but if you can afford it, you will not be less than thrilled.
