“Can't wait to return.”

A castle on the scenic coast of Maine that has been given new life by innkeepers Phil and Sue. Each room has a character and charm all its own. Comfort everywhere. Great service. Amazing meals. Attentive staff. Staying at the Norumbega is like stepping back in time, and yet it has every modern convenience.

We stayed in the Versailles room on the first floor, facing the east. The room was private and conveniently located past a cozy lounge. The sheets, towels and robes were cuddly, the shower had fantastic water pressure, the bed was wonderful, and, well ... we hated to leave. I can't wait to return!

One thing that I wish to add: my husband and I are not wealthy. Staying at the Norumbega was a big deal to us. We could have stayed at one of the less expensive B&B's in Camden, and at the time I booked our room I was wondering if that's what we should have done. I am so happy that we stayed at Norumbega. It was worth every penny, and the experience, enhanced by the graciousness of Phil and Sue, provided memories that we'll keep forever. Where else in Maine can you stay in a 19th century castle, after all?

Charming, beautiful, historic, comfortable. These describe the gorgeous Norumbega Inn in lovely little Camden. But what I will remember most, and what I will tell anyone travelling to Maine, is that the food was to die for! Chef Phil is a true artist. Our dinner upon arrival was a culinary delight but he topped that the next day with a fantastic breakfast. We were lucky enough to get the "Penthouse Suite" which had THE BEST VIEW of any B&B or hotel in the Northeast, period. Coffee on the veranda felt so indulgent with that view. I can highly recommend this Inn. Can't wait to go back!

We stayed at the historic and meticulously renovated Norumbega Inn on 11/1 - 11/3, the weekend of a crazy snowstorm that left Camden with a foot of snow.
But thanks to Sue and Phil, the innkeepers of this sophisticated, yet intimate B&B, they turned a stormy evening into a cozy little soiree, treating everyone that stayed there like treasured friends.
With the fireplaces aglow in the main gathering areas, they magically and effortlessly turned the inn into an oasis of warm and welcome as we shared food, drink and lively conversation throughout the evening.
Phil is a world class chef, and he indulged our palettes with a delectable dinner and scrumptious breakfasts.
Sue who reminds me of a fun and loving sister, is an exceptional hostess. She and the rest of their staff made sure we were want for nothing.
I'm glad that we were able to experience this wonderfully preserved little castle, after Phil and Sue took charge of it only a year and a half ago. They have ambitiously renovated this classically wood-trimmed home into an elegantly crafted getaway. Sure to be returning when the weather is a little better. It was a treasure trove of awesome!

Room Tip: Rooms in the back have a beautiful view of the gardens and ocean.

While on the outside it looks nice, be ready for a shocker when you walk into your room. An outdated bathroom, small television and zero amenities. Most of all it is unbelievable noisy, you here the cars and trucks racing over route 1 and the other guests outside your door. We stayed at many historical inn's and never came across so much pretence.
Breakfast is fine, but nothing special or new. Based on breakfast and the somewhat smelly dining room area we deciced not to opt for the heavily advertised dinner option. Staff is friendly but clueless and innkeepers are hardly available. We were surprised to see all the great reviews, we recommend to also read some of the bad reviews as they are more representive for what you'll find. We can not recmommend this inn.

Room Tip: perhaps the rooms facing the garden are more quiet?

Great place to stay. Loved the location, amenities, and the staff. For an authentic Maine getaway weekend, it can't be beat. The food was excellent and we were able to walk to town to shop and enjoy Camden. It's also very close to Mt.Battie which is a beautiful place to visit

My husband and I stayed at Norumbega Inn 9/30-10/2 this year. It is often said, "A man's home is his castle", for 3 nights we felt like this was our castle! The Inn itself was beautiful and Sue and Phil our hosts made us feel right at home. Each morning we were treated to an absolute gourmet breakfast. Everything about our stay was first class and if you are ever near Camden the Norumbega Inn is the best place to stay!

My wife and I stayed one night at the Norumbega Inn in Camden. We stayed in the Library Suite. This is actually our second stay, and in the same room, but about 25 years ago (we can't remember exactly when). Norumbega was recently bought by a couple from New York, and they are doing an excellent job with this unique property. We have stayed at B&Bs throughout the US and England/Scotland, and can honestly say that this is one of the most special. The breakfast was excellent and is different each day. While the Norumbega is not directly on the water, it does have great views, and a very nice 4 acre "front yard". It is a bit of a walk to downtown Camden, but wold be fine in nice weather. If you get a chance, you need to visit, places like this are a very endangered species.

Room Tip: Library Suite is fabulous
