“Hit or miss.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013 via mobile

I've had some great experiences and some just terrible. Service needs work..waiting 15-20mins for a refill of water is a little much. Don't go in close to closing time, the kitchen seems to rush and not care as much about your food.

“Tiny restaurant turns out tastey food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

Not planning in advance, left us wondering whether we would be able to dine at Long Grain, as everything we read said to make reservations well ahead. Well, we planned a last minute trip to Maine and on a whim, called to see if we could garner a lunchtime reservation for four. The gods were with us (and probably the terrible weather, too)as we were told to come right over. Lucky us, as we enjoyed a wonderful meal. The Maine crab fried rice with a sunny side up on top, steamed mussels in a wonderfully flavorful broth, the house curry with beef, the house noodle dish with tofu, and spring rolls were all wonderful. The fragrance in the air as soon as we stepped inside this gem of a tiny restaurant alerted our senses and we were guaranteed a great dining experience. Can't wait to make another trip to Maine (from NJ )so that we can enjoy another meal at this gem of a restaurant.

“Food and Ambiance”

Great fresh healthy food. Great neighborhood perfect trendy hole-in-the-wall ambiance. You definitely need a reservation to get in the door.

“What happened?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013 via mobile

So, after many visits that went great, Ive been very disappointed lately. The food is still good, but the service has really fallen off this year. They could do with some management. Until they get a more proffessional staff, I will have to stick to takeout. I can give myself better service at home!

“Extraordinarily Delicious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

The coconut soup was absolutely the best ever! I had chicken with ginger, and loved that the dish was laced with the flavor of ginger, and not just a hint. You have to make reservations two weeks in advance in order to get a seat. This is hands down the best restaurant in town!
