“Great View”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

It's described as a "seaview" but I don't think it's that close to the sea. It's probably more of a "riverview". Either way, the view out the back is beautiful. A balcony would have been fabulous. It's right in the middle of Bucksport, within walking distance of two restaurants. Another reviewer suggested walking to one of the restaurants for breakfast. Good advice, a muffin tends to wear off quickly.

Room Tip: The good views are in the back.

Overall this place is showing its age. A bit smelly due to the carpets needing to be removed and replaced with a hardwood or some other less smelly material. The bathroom would make you claustrophobic. Great restaurants across the street and on the water down the street.

I find myself having to visit the Bucksport area for work often. Every time, I stay at the Fort Knox Inn. It is very reasonable especially for summer prices in Maine. And, it has two good restaurants in walking distance (MacLeods Restaurant & Pub and the Harbor View Grille). This place has good parking, and a great view. There is a river walk on the water side for walking or jogging. Although it is not a new place and some amenities are lacking, for the price you cannot beat it. The continental breakfast is poor, walk to the Harbor View Grille instead.

I'm currently staying at the Fort Knox Inn and although I'm on the street side, it's rather quiet here. As others pointed out, the breakfast doesn't leave you with a whole lot of choices, but at least it's free and you don't have to start the day on an empty stomach.
The rooms are clean and provide a fair amount of space.
The staff is very friendly, the whole atmosphere is more familiar than at other places where it tends to be more formal. Parking and WiFi are free.
.
I like this hotel, I would come back anytime.

The cheapest rates are calling the hotel itself--they give you a discount if you call them instead of doing it online. The rooms facing the water have a beautiful view and it is worth the extra money to stay in those. The staff is friendly and nice, the rooms clean and nice sized, but the walls are very thin--you can hear your next door neighbor. The breakfast is free but very simple but it is well located.

Room Tip: facing the water on the ground floor. If your room is facing back, the water, it is three stories up...

I spent just one night due to a sport event neaby. The hotel is located by the river with a nice view, in spite of the big factory nearby (you have to ask for a river view room). The room is comfortable and the front desk is friendly. Breakfast is very simple. Overall a nice stay.

Room Tip: Ask for river view

My wife and I just spent a couple nights there in Bucksport because we had to attend a party in a nearby town. The cost for staying at the Inn was very modest and the room was clean and neat. It was worth the price paid. I recommend the Inn to anyone traveling through that area, especially during the Winter months.
