“Rustic Charm on the River”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

A casual stroll from the main entrance of the old mill to the door of the restaurant. Bold wooden tables, benches and seats (bring a pad for softer seating). Menu has enough variety to meet most dietary needs. Foods portions on the larger side with a balance of flavors. Most ingredients are locally sourced and fresh. The staff is friendly, smiling, personable while taking orders and serving in a timely fashion. There is a seating area with soft sofas and chairs where one can relax over a cocktail, beer, tea or coffee. A person can be comfortable with a book or having a quiet conversation without feeling rushed. The in house intimate movie theater shows independent films as scheduled. One must not forget to mention the river views from the windows with lively seagulls sunning on the rocks. The Frontier Cafe is a unique experience you will want to share with friends or house quests.

We greatly appreciate when our customers notice the details. It appears you soaked in the full flavor and came away with a complete experience. That is fulfilling on many levels. Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience at Frontier. Enjoy your summer!

“Nice Surprise Find-Love the Gluten Free Options”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

It is hard to find a restaurant that caters to people that have Gluten allergies. My friends and I were visiting in Brunswick, Maine and decided to try this place out since it was right down the street from where we were staying. I was so excited to get to order GF calamari and fish and chips. They were some of the best I have ever had. Even my non GF friends agreed. The fish and was huge but so good. It is a little pricey but worth it!
One note: We had a little hard time finding it. It is right before the bridge in the Fort Andross building and restaurant is in back.

Thank you for sharing your review. The old mill is a bit of a labyrinth, but hopefully the adventure was worth it. We hope to see you again.

“Glutenfree Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2014

The river view and fresh food at this cafe is so terrific we went back again the next day!
New definition for fish & chips: absolutely fresh cod, with a thin rice flour batter, sauteed in olive oil = seafood so delightfully crispy and light that I only ate 3 fries.
My husband's bacon burger and salad were excellent, as was our server, Andy (very funny),
We will return. They offer music, films and art - an all around fine experience.

“Recommended !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2014

We stopped here for lunch at the advice of friends and we were pleasantly surprised. Well, more than surprised.....we loved it! It's not often we find a place that rates high praise from all in our group and the Frontier Cafe did it for us on this day. We had the pulled pork and Frontier burgers and they were excellent. Great atmosphere, superb view, excellent service, and delicious food. We'll be back to the Frontier Cafe again. Highly recommended.
