“Really Nice, Friendly B&B w/ Great Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2005

I stayed in the Carriage House, which wasn't as old and charming as the big place where breakfast was served, which is everything you could hope for in a B&B, but the Carriage House was plenty nice enough and obviously the owners cared about it and tried to make me feel welcome. My favorite thing about this B&B was that the owners were friendly, super-helpful, and really did their best to make me feel comfortable, special, and at home. And the breakfasts were fantastic--I usually hate breakfast food, but this stuff was so good, I could have eaten it all day. Unbelievable. And Mercie, one of the innkeepers/owners always seemed to remember that I was vegetarian, so she'd hold whatever meat she was serving on my plate. When I arrived, there were great cookies waiting downstairs in the Carriage House. Homey, cozy, good, friendly, awesome food, and they were helpful with making recommendations of what to do in the area, and directions.

This was our last stop on a four night trip to visit New England colleges with our daughter. We were pretty tired by this point, but the beautiful Brunswick B&B was a great spot of our last night!

The house was magnificant. In terrific condition! Our room was spacious with a queen size bed on one wall with a love seat pull out bed in an opposite corner for our daughter. Even with the bed open, there was tons of room between the beds. A fireplace was in the center of one wall and a huge private bathroom was part of our room.

Beautiful artwork (some by the owners mother) adorned the walls and a variety of very pretty quilts hung on the walls throughout the house (these were done by the owner, Mercie).

A delicious full breakfast was included (blueberry pancakes for us). We could have stayed here longer and hope to return. A drive down Maine route 24 to the end of the peninsula is worth the drive.

OH -- and don't miss the town of Freeport - home to L.L. Bean. Many outlets dot the town along with a very large L.L. Bean store. Very tastefully done. They are open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Plan accordingly....my guess is the traffic is awful on weekends and the holidays!

ENJOY
