We traveled to the Belmond Maroma for a 40th birthday celebration, 3 couples. We spent 4 nights there. This place is hands down, incredible. The lush grounds, gorgeous white sand beach and delicious food were only 2nd to the AMAZING service. We dined outdoors, right on the beach for most meals (when it wasn't raining). We've never been to a place that does service quite like this. Raul and Moses were our servers for much of the trip and they were TOP NOTCH. The hotel organized an outside trip to the Tulum Ruins and to swim in a cenote...we had an excellent tour guide and a really good overall experience. The hotel grounds are just gorgeous, as is the spa. This place is a hidden gem, they really pay attention to detail. Glad we didn't bring the kids, its really more for adults. The pools are simple and beautiful, though the beaches are really what make this resort exceptional. The beach is pristine, we were offered everything from frozen grapes to freshly made strawberry sorbet. They even offered to have someone from the spa come over to us on the beach to tell us about different services and book it right there on the spot. They make a huge effort to clear the seaweed. One night we had a tequila tasting in "the Cantina" with a local-fare Mexican food pairing. Only negative is that Freddy's bar, the beachside bar, was under repair during our stay. Didn't impact our ability to get drinks on the beach at all, it just would have been nice to sit at the outdoor bar. Also, we found the bed to be a bit too soft for our taste, but that is personal preference. Our room was very nice and spacious and the shower was incredible. Overall, we had a fabulous time and would highly recommend it.
