Pemaquid Point Lighthouse Park is always a wonderful place to go on my visits to Maine. You can go via car thru the town of Darmiscotta, or see it on a boat cruise around the islands and points of mid-coast Maine. This is the quintessential American Lighthouse. You see it on many postcards, and in many books. It has a museum in the Lighthouse Keepers old house, benches and tables to bring a lunch, only a $2 fee per person to enter, beautiful spectacular view of the waves crashing over the rocks, the chance to walk the rocks and get close to those crashing waves (be very very careful !!!). This a a very enjoyable place for families, couples, friends.
