“Great cinima for a small town.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

Love the seating in the new theaters. Balcony is a wonderful treat with slightly rocking chairs for the adults. Sorry kids must be 21 to sit up there.
Wished they did something different to the front of the building. Looking at it from main street it is really uninspiring and disappointing. Inside is nicely decorated and fun to visit. Prices are pretty reasonable too.

“New-fangled theatre with old-fashioned charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2011

The Magic Lantern was an unexpected treasure in the heart of Bridgton. On the site of the old theatre, it was remodeled a few years ago and now boasts three small (90 seat, 90 seat and 170 seat, approx) movie theatres with beautiful new seats, lovely decor and a homey feel I remember from town theatres years ago. A cute concession stand and friendly staff round out the ambience, and movie prices are about half what they are in the big cities. An added bonus is the on-site pub, where you can grab a bite and a drink before or after the movies (but you don't have to go to the movies to eat there). The pub itself has a huge widescreen display on which movies are show late, but you can get your sports and news fix in the non-movie hours. The whole place is well appointed and spotless. I will be back in Bridgton this weekend and intend to go back to the Magic Lantern — I don't even care what's playing (well, okay, a little. But it really is a lovely experience).
