Description: A contemporary country inn with its fair share of history, The Parkers Arms is located just outside of Clitheroe in the prettily sleepy village of Newton in Bowland where, so were told you can hear the grass grow. The beautifully traditional whitewashed inn, hung with colourful baskets of flowers and lined with parasol shaded outdoor tables, invites guests in with the promise of glorious regional food and a relaxed but sophisticated atmosphere both of which it delivers in spades. The cuisine is rightfully British, with a few global treats of course, based on local and seasonal ingredients cooked using creativity and imagination as well as a little tradition too (and speaking of tradition we absolutely insist you try the fantastic Sunday roast here at The Parkers Arms). Pints of good local ales are joined by delicious wines from all over the globe, so whether youre resting after a bracing dog walk or celebrating a special occasion, The Parkers Arms has not only the food but the drink to suit too. Indeed, balancing modern and classic style, informal and efficient service and relaxed and special food, The Parkers Arms appears to have created what could quite easily be the perfect local inn.

“Loved it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2009

Recently visited Clitheroe and I just fell in love with it. Always lived in London but family brought me to visit this place and I am so pleased I did. Came with boyfriend for a short break. We ate in Wezzos the first night and this is how we found this place and I think it is co-owned! Next day we explored the country side and decided to see if this place was as good as wezzos. It was fantastic!! Again the welcome and the staff are just so friendly! Thought it would be local pub for local people but they love seeing new faces and hearing where you come from. Food is typical pub food menu but quality is more like restaurant and again so reasonable that you can't say no to another drink or try their desserts. Where possible it is all locally sourced an the portions are good sizes. You won't go hungry! Bread is fresh, salad is crisp, you can taste the homemade tast to this food! The scenary just tops it off, we had a really nice day so sat outside and it was just great! Just gives me more reasons to go back to Clitheroe!
