Others have written this, but I wanted to pass on the same sad experience-- I booked a room at the Harborage a month in advance, and then heard back a few days later that they made a mistake and that the room they guaranteed me was not available. They, of course, had already charged my credit card, and so had to refund the money, which to their credit they did that day. However, I would *not* trust that you have a room from this establishment, *even* if they have taken a deposit. It is utterly unclear to me how difficult it could possibly be to keep track of which rooms are filled on which evenings if you only have 12 rooms!

Unfortunately this and other reservation overbooking problem reviews are accurate in that we have had some Innkeeper problems this July. For this we do now & did profusely apologize to these guests.
Our side of this overbooking issue is this: We have had a certain reservation system that has been in use in our family business for the past 36 years. It has been utilized by my Grandmother, Mother & now me & my Wife with very good success. This past winter we have added a baby & 3 new guest rooms to our lives here. So we have taken on outside workers & an Asst. Innkeeper. These reservation overbooking issues were all discovered in early July & we have made employee changes to rectify any future problems. However, in each situation the overbooking problem was noticed 2 to 4 weeks prior to the guests arrival & we directly provided alternate & similar accomodations. We realize that guests at B&B's pick them for their specific individual traits & are disappointed when situations arise. For this we do sincerely apologize & now have a policy where only the owners of our Inn (my wife & I) will directly handly all reservations & confirmation process.
Our reservation & confirmation system that while not absolutely perfect has worked for thousands of guest each year for the past 37 years. We have just learned that my wife & I will have to be the only people that will handle this part of our Inn's duties.
I do feel that giving an Inn a 1 star rating for a reservation issue that is now rectified & stating "don't trust your reservation, so don't book with them" is somewhat unfair to us. Especially when these folks haven't actually stayed with us.

I have just received a brief letter from the owner of the Harborage Inn today, July 19th, cancelling our reservation for August 6&7. The letter states they realized the error on July 10 and tried to telephone my cell phone but were unable to reach me and therefore sent this notice by mail. I booked July 2nd for August 6 & 7. I was told at that time there were two rooms available and I left it up to the owner to make the choice, which he did. I then received a confirmation of the room. I have been very excited about our vacation and am very disappointed to receive this letter. I had read on Trip Advisor, about a similar situation happening to another couple on August 3, 2006, however believed the management when they said it had only "happened once in 10 years". I guess now it's happened twice. Just be aware that when you book at the Harborage Inn you are not guaranteed a room. Thank you for taking the time to read this review.

We had a wonderful stay. The rooms were
without doubt the most luxurious we slept in during our
holiday and I include our posh Boston hotel. The showers
were also the most efficient and it was a delight to get
bathed without having to fiddle with temperature & pressure!
A real home from home experience!

We hope they have a great season. Many thanks for your
hospitality,

Our getaway was more than we imagined and it was all due to the hosts. Emery & Troy were so warm, friendly, and helpful! We think everyone should know how lovely this place is. It was exactly how it is described on the internet and very, very clean. We loved that our group could sit outside on the covered porches with wine and look at the water! All of us had a perfect time and can guarantee we'll be back.

Everything about our stay at the Harborage was wonderful. Comfortable room with all the right touches, great breakfast, and wonderful views. We loved the hot tub that was right on the water overlooking the whole village. I think we bubbled away every night! The location was ideal because we walked to all the best restaurants and the whale watching which we loved. Emery & Troy were extremely friendly and helpful which made our stay truly complete. A great choice if you want to relax and still be in the heart of all the activities the town offers.
