Others have written this, but I wanted to pass on the same sad experience-- I booked a room at the Harborage a month in advance, and then heard back a few days later that they made a mistake and that the room they guaranteed me was not available. They, of course, had already charged my credit card, and so had to refund the money, which to their credit they did that day. However, I would *not* trust that you have a room from this establishment, *even* if they have taken a deposit. It is utterly unclear to me how difficult it could possibly be to keep track of which rooms are filled on which evenings if you only have 12 rooms!

Unfortunately this and other reservation overbooking problem reviews are accurate in that we have had some Innkeeper problems this July. For this we do now & did profusely apologize to these guests.
Our side of this overbooking issue is this: We have had a certain reservation system that has been in use in our family business for the past 36 years. It has been utilized by my Grandmother, Mother & now me & my Wife with very good success. This past winter we have added a baby & 3 new guest rooms to our lives here. So we have taken on outside workers & an Asst. Innkeeper. These reservation overbooking issues were all discovered in early July & we have made employee changes to rectify any future problems. However, in each situation the overbooking problem was noticed 2 to 4 weeks prior to the guests arrival & we directly provided alternate & similar accomodations. We realize that guests at B&B's pick them for their specific individual traits & are disappointed when situations arise. For this we do sincerely apologize & now have a policy where only the owners of our Inn (my wife & I) will directly handly all reservations & confirmation process.
Our reservation & confirmation system that while not absolutely perfect has worked for thousands of guest each year for the past 37 years. We have just learned that my wife & I will have to be the only people that will handle this part of our Inn's duties.
I do feel that giving an Inn a 1 star rating for a reservation issue that is now rectified & stating "don't trust your reservation, so don't book with them" is somewhat unfair to us. Especially when these folks haven't actually stayed with us.
