“Absolutely fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

We stayed three nights in this lovely B & B and enjoyed it sooooo much. Michelle and Devon were dream hosts and went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable to the point of being pampered. We chose the little cottage out back (formerly the shack for repairing lobster traps) and it's name Solitude fits...loved the little patio and all the flowers. This will be our go-to if we return to the area :)

Room Tip: Solitude has shower only so if you like a soak in a tub, a different room is suggested. I found the...

Our stay at the Atlantic Ark Inn was only one night but we would definitely go back. The view from our room (it faced the bay) was beautiful and the inn itself is just a short walk to the footbridge that takes you into the main part of town with tons of shops and restaurants. The breakfast was amazing - probably one of the best I have ever had at a B&B. It was a blueberry french toast with fresh fruit. Just awesome. I dont believe the innkeeper was there but Devon, the cook and Michelle the housekeeper were very nice and friendly. The inn has a great porch with rocking chairs and OFF STREET Parking which is a HUGE plus! Also, there was A/C. We happened to be in Maine during a very very hot and humid heatwave. Thank goodness for the A/C! We enjoyed our stay. We will be back!

What a hidden treasure! We picked this Inn out of scant available listings too close to the season and really lucked out. It's on the eastern side of the bay, but still in walking distance of the footbridge and all downtown. Our room, named "Bliss", was on the top floor with a 2-person Jacuzzi, a private balcony and a bed-foot view of the harbor. We had a great time sharing wine on the balcony and watching the sun set over a bustling harbor. Donna, the owner, is vegetarian so convincing her Jamaican chef Devon to cook breakfast for two vegans was not difficult. He is a fabulous cook and the breakfasts were divine! Both Devon and Michelle, the housekeeper, were very friendly, and with only 6 rooms, including a set-apart cottage, we enjoyed getting to know them and the other guests. Lower rooms don't have such a nice view - you are across from some busy hotels and restaurants, so use of the AC is advisable to cut down the night noise if you turn in before 11.

Room Tip: Appointments vary a lot between rooms - check the descriptions.

This was our first visit to Boothbay Harbor and we have just experienced the most wonderful stay at the Atlantic Ark Inn. We had a beautiful room with a small and charming terrace. And for the ladies, a hairdryer and spa soaps! Everything was perfect; the location, a delicious breakfast, late afternoon tea and a most charming and helpful staff. There were even cookies upon our return in the evening....it could not have been better.

We love this bed and breakfast and have stayed here numerous times. Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and excellent food. The staff pampers you, not just for breakfast but all the day long. The location is perfect for a walk into town or just to be able to sit by the water. Who doesn't relax with a view of this pristine little town on the ocean. Thank you Donna, Devon and Michelle for you care and service.

Room Tip: We have stayed in 3 different rooms and enjoyed them all.

When my brother from Indiana asked us to leave our home on Cape Cod ( in July, no less) and show him the Maine coastline, we knew exactly where we would take him. We had stayed at the Atlantic Ark Inn a few years ago, and knew the town and the inn would be perfect. Devon, the manager and chef, greeted us at the door warmly. Although we arrived late and had just missed the cheese plate, he reminded us that home baked cookies would be waiting for us when we returned from dinner. Our rooms were sparkling clean. My brother's room was large and had french doors that opened to a side porch that overlooked the harbor. Our room was in the front of the house. We were pleased with our water view and our luxurious deep tub for relaxing.
We were disappointed to wake up the next morning to rain. We had planned a harbor sailboat cruise, but it was cancelled at the last minute. While eating our delicious breakfast, Donna, the Ark's owner, suggested we take the local island ferry instead. She immediately went to the phone and made sure there was room for us. The captain gave a colorful 2 hour description of the area, and we were not disappointed. Thanks Donna, you saved the day!
Parking is at a premium in town, but the inn is in a perfect location to walk across the pedestrian bridge for meals, shopping and sightseeing. The inn is beautifully appointed with antiques, but there is no stuffiness. The front porch is perfect for sunsets as well as breakfasts. Many details to make this place run smoothly. In one word, "charming".

This is a great place if you want to be near, but not in the center of things. Easy walk to town (about 5 min). Restaurants within easy walking distance. Devon and Michelle were very friendly and accommodating. His breakfasts are delicious and his cookies, which come out of the oven at 7:00 each night are intoxicating. The room was quite comfortable and food can be taken inside or on the porch.
